~9000 PPD for a 6950, 275. and 2500k? Sound about right?

Hi guys. Just wanted to make sure that this looked right to you. It seems a bit low to me, but maybe that's just me? Everything is stock (for now) except my 6950 has unlocked shaders. It looks like the 6950 is the only one that is showing any PPD.The 275 is showing unknown ppd and smp (my CPU?) is showing only around 200. I REALLY expected more out of an i5...they all are at 100% load. thinking.gif

You should be getting about 15-20k.... the 295 should be getting at least 11-12 although there are some projects where PPD cannot be calculated.

No that's not right at all. Like Xeb said you should be getting 15k from the 2500k alone I believe. The 275 should give you eh around 8-9k. And the 6950 should be giving 7k, I think.

Give the V2 client a run, link can be found in my sig. Follow the A-Z guide link. I would think that you'd be getting around 26-30k.

You need to change the CPU SMP slot to only use 3 out of 4 cores, the AMD GPU uses almost an entire core of the CPU while it is folding. The CPU SMP folding trying to use 100% of your CPU in addition to the ~20% that the AMD GPU is using is crippling your CPU's performance. Also have you input a passkey into your client? Have you folded 10 CPU SMP WUs on it yet or not? CPU bonus points require 10 SMP WUs turned in so that will increase your PPD by a lot once you get bonus points.

To lower the core usage on the CPU SMP folding you technically should finish your current CPU WU, but I wouldn't blame you if you didn't. Next click configure in the top left, click on the SMP slot and click edit. Finally change the number of SMP CPUs threads (shown here but not the outlined in red part, it's the field with the 0 in that picture) from -1 or 4 down to 3.

Also if you haven't already, setup your AMD GPU slot to receive the best WUs for it by following step 4 of zodac's v7 client guide.

The GPU saying unknown is expected with the v7 client and the pre fermi Nvidia GPUs, my GTX260 c216 also says unknown but I still get the 8K PPD out of it no problem.

He doesn't want to be running anything but the v7 client for the AMD.

Interesting.. Fixed that. We'll see how that goes.

Not sure. I'll have to check when I get home from work. Woudl that impact my PPD?

Yep. I looked this morning and I had folded 14 yesterday..

Understood. I had already given my AMD GPU the best WU's. And does the 275 really get almost as many PPD as my 6950? If so how does the 216 version of the 260 GTX do? Someone was selling their set of two 260's on craigslist for Something like 80 bucks for both. Might be able to stick those in my server..

Hmm, Mine is a whole diff story.

Not having a passkey entered into the client would have a huge impact on CPU PPD. A large amount of the points for completing each WU come from the bonus points you earn with the passkey. You have to complete 10 SMP WUs on the passkey before you start to recieve the bonus points. The faster you complete the work unit the more bonus points you receive.

^what crystalhand said regarding the passkey. So you will want to set up a passkey into your clients ASAP. Here is a passkey FAQ and it tells you how to get one.

The 260 216 would be a great buy at $80 for both, they get between 8-9k PPD overclocked.

Looks like I do have a passkey in place, and it says it's matched, so that should be good. HOWEVER, I did notice after looking over the tutorial again that I forgot to download and set up the HFM portion of everything.. doh.gif That would probably fix my CPU related issue, would it not? AFter that I would just have to figure out why my 275 is showing an unknown PPD.. My 6950 is showing 8616 estimated with a total system of 10455 estimated. But everyone here has said that I should be getting at least 8k for the 275.. Gotta figure out where all this work my 275 is doing is going... rolleyes.gif

You're 6950 should be getting 8k+ PPD since my 6870 at 1 GHz gets 8k PPD. In regards to the Nvidia unknown PPD, I get the same problem on my 9800 GTX+ in v7.

As for the issue related to Nvidia folding, I recall the servers don't host the credit information in the same way as AMD GPU and SMP folding so the v7 client can't retrieve it properly.
