What to proccessor to buy for my new system ? - Page 3

Thread Starter
Questions why intel set is more expensive, because I looked mobo's with SLI and CrossFire, and also with atleast 2 intregated graphics+ 2 pc x16 slots that i could crossfire intregated and SLI my 2 nvidia gt520's for little extra performance biggrin.gif

Still wondering how could 4 cores beat 8, I've googled that today's OS aren't optimized for more than 4-6 core's, Rumors say that windows 8 uses more multi-threaded and also new games will be optimized for that.

But thanks guys for showing this site is awesome - very quick and good straight answers, I'm going with Intel, I just have to throw out intregated graphics;).

Next question:

INTEL CPU Desktop Core i5-2500K (3.30GHz,6MB,95W,S1155) - 208.75 €
INTEL CORE I5 2550K 3.4GHZ 6M S1155 BX80623I52550K SR0QH - 198.00 €
INTEL CORE I5 2500K 3.3GHz 6M S1155 - 191.00 €
INTEL CPU Desktop Core i5-2500 (3.30GHz,6MB,95W,S1155) - 189.70 €

2550K 3.4Ghz is cheaper than 2500k 3.3Ghz - this doesn't make any sense.

Where comes the price difference ?

Which one is the best perfomance-price ratio ?

And finally, which one should i get, rep for everyone who helped, and again showing how awesome this place is compared to other IT sites.
AFAIK the i5-2550k doesn't have IGP while the i5-2500 does.

the i5 2550k doesnt have integrated graphics.
the i5 2500k has an integrated gpu
both are k series and have unlocked mulitpliers while the 2500(no K) is a locked multi

also, you arent going to get more than MAYBE 200mhz overclocking out of a non-k. and that 200mhz is if you are extremely lucky.

*edit* and saint, my p67 evo will also take an ib with a bios update. everyone buying gen3 boards thinking it's the only way to upgrade to ib is wrong.

With current markets, get a 960T if you can find one with a good AM3+ board, or else an i5-2500k with a board that will support Ivy-Bridge down the road.

false. Not 200 mhz...
You should be able to set the multiplier at most, 3x multiplier over the turbo speed. So for a 2500k at 3.3 ghz (3.6 ghz turbo), it should be able to go up to 39x Multi.
And you could also up the bclk a bit. Around 103-105. so you could still go a little over 4 Ghz.

The 960T isn't better, the i5-2500k is better in most every case, but in my opinion, not worth the extra money. The money you save could be used on a small 60 GB SSD or a slightly better GPU.

read my post please. 2500K's get over 5ghz. personally mine is at 4.5ghz now.
as i said though, READ my post.

Which one should I get, one reply confused me that 960T could be better rolleyes.gif

DO NOT buy an amd MSI mobo. very bad idea. they use garbage for vrm's.
make sure you find low voltage ram for the intel. corsair vengeance 1.5v 1600mhz ram is dirt cheap here. dont know about where you are. you wont be able to overclock the 1333 with bclck bumps. sandy bridge doesnt really like the baseclock raised more than 7.
