Amazon Kindle Fire or Lenovo A1 Tab

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a small (7'') tab for around $200 to take on a trip for work in a few weeks. I figure if it gets lost / stolen ... I'm not out of much

The price and size are the biggest for me - it'll be going around with me for 4 days straight and I will be using it to take notes, etc. I doubt there will be open wifi, but I can always have my phone set up as a wifi hotspot in my pocket if I need to hop on the Internet from it. Most of the day will be spent with all radios off.

Back in the hotel room, I'm going to be using it to ...
- Connect VPN to work to RDP into work machine if needed
- Connect VPN to home to stream music / videos
- Email (built in client, nothing fancy needed here)
- Youtube / Web Browsing
- Netflix

I have two I am looking at currently. The Lenovo A1 tab and the Kindle Fire

Pros of Lenovo
- Camera
- GPS
- Running a "regular" version of Android

Cons of Lenovo
- Buggy
- Single Core CPU

Pros of KF
- Dual Core CPU
- Not as buggy stock (but I'll most likely have to root it)

Cons of KF
- Not running a "regular" version of Android - I'd have to root it, no doubt
- No Expandable SD card slot (not that I plan on installing / storing a lot on it)
- No Camera
- No GPS

Which one should I buy?

For what it's worth, I'll most likely be selling it later anyway ...

I love my KF. With drop box and cloud storage not having an SD card is a non issue for me. Even when I would be places with no WiFi there is enough space of the KF to store what I need without an SD card. Same with camera and GPS. I have a camera on my phone. I use my KF every day and am really happy with it.

My wife's rooted nook tablet works well. Easy to root it is a plus.

Not going through the hassle and enjoying out of the box, like the Lenovo, is nice to.

If you are not in a rush the Asus memo 370t will stomp these for $50 more...also rumored that google liked the asus so much they want to release a $200 version under the google moniker.
