Which 120 Hz monitor for gaming?

Thread Starter
I've fallen in love with the Samsung S27A750D and would like a 120 Hz monitor in the near future...

Would the pixel density be too low when sitting 0.5 m from the monitor? For reference, with my current 24" 1920x1200 I can see the black lines between the pixels in "My profile" in the OCN top bar ~0.4 m from the monitor, but can't see them in my usual gaming position at 0.5 m.

If that's not a good choice, what's the second best? The S23A750D or the BenQ XL2420T? I think DP is the way forward and the S23A750D is cheaper, so I'm leaning that way. And what's the difference between the XL2420T and the XL2410T? I have a matte display now and wouldn't mind having a matte or glossy display.

I sit the same distance away and do not notice any pixel pitch issues. Stuff like that drives me nuts so I'd be the first one to be annoyed by it.

if you can find the Samsung S27A750D..let me know..i can't find it anywhere..looks discontinued (23" is still available)...i think Samsung is forcing us to buy Samsung S27A950D. mad.gif

Besides that you have an option with Acer and Asus for 27" 1080p...but not as good as Samsung...especially 750D.

FYI - i have the 23" 750D..its a little small..but picture quality is amazing. Also have 24" 1200p IPS...screen size is near perfect for me...but i won't mind a 27" 1080p for gaming...hehe..i have the desk space.

Alienware aw2310. Love it. I was apprehensive about alienware at first, but its pretty sweet stuff. Read my review.

my S23A750D is the best monitor i've ever owned. it's beautiful. colors are amazing.

there's MINOR light bleed around the edges sometimes, but it's nothing to worry about. and it can't be seen when there's any color on the screen.

i've noticed no PPD issues.

otherwise, i've had some niggling issues with the DP being funky, but i still think it's the best monitor i've ever seen. =) and now that i've gone 120hz, i can't go back.

love it.

Ye, I'm thinking going the S23A750D way. Honestly, the S27A750D is really expensive. Might go BenQ, the black eQ is interesting.

The XL2420T has lightboost for 3d gaming and the 2410 doesn't.

I picked up a XL2420T in january and I love it. Best monitor I've ever owned. I was also thinking about getting a samsung or an alienware monitor but I went for the Benq and I was very impressed. It has a lot of cool features like PbP, Touch sensitive front panel menu buttons, Pivot, a place to hang your headphones, User profiles, etc.

BenQ, Samsung and alienware all make great 120hz panels so I don't think you can go wrong with either of them thumb.gif
