No, Standard hard disks cannot transfer data fast enough to require more than 3 Gbit/s

The SSD, on the otherhand, would require a 6Gbit/s.

I also found a cheaper, but better graphics card for you that comes with a free, 40 dollar game download coupon.

I would personally look into a motherboard with a much more 'beefier' VRM design. The Asus P8Z68 V and V PRO are quite solid, boasting a 12+4 VRM design and should be capable of 5ghz+ without any issues.
Apart from that, everything else looks fine to me smile.gif

thats true about the mobo but i dont see him overclocking to those speeds with the 212 evo you need something with abit more ooomf to push those temps down (had a hyper212 on my old 2600k) other then the issue brought up im convicned it will still be a nice build

quite true, however you never know, his chip might be golden smile.gif

Ok, so 'll get Windows 7 Pro, probably the 500GB HDD and I'll keep looking for a case.

One other question, Asus Maximus IV GENE-Z Socket 1155 Intel Z68 or Asus P8Z68-V Socket 1155 Intel Z68 if they are both at 164.99 ?

depends on whether or not you need the extra PCI-E lanes. Also the Gene is 8+4 VRM design and the P8Z68 is a 12+4. AFAIK either one should be able to handle 5ghz+

The Asus P8Z68-V is Out of stock, the Pro is not listed and the new Gen3 are 189.99 and up. I noticed a MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3) on sale for 139.99 but I can't find info on VRM or power design on the MSI site. Any one care to comment or just tel me where to look on the MSI and Gigabite websites for this info ? Tks again, I'll post an updated system when I can figure out what MoBo to get.

I don't know about MSI boards, ASUS is my favored brand and I have a P8Z68-V/Gen3 which is totally worth the pricetag. It works great with my Corsair Force GT SSD that many on OCN fear and push the Crucial M4. Like the others have said the Sata III port is best for SSD and doesn't do any better than Sata II speeds for regular HDDs. I would truely wait for the better board or spend a little more for the Gen3 which will have more longevity but it's your call.

Ya, I never had any problem with my ASUS board I got now, so I think I'll get the upgrade.

Hi again,

I'm a good way into building my new computer (using it right now). My final specs are :

CPU : i5 -2500k
MoBo : Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3
Ram : Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4x4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9
DVD : Sony
HSF : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO R2
CASE : Cooler Master HAF 912 Mid Tower ATX Case
PSU : Corsair CX 500 Watt 80+
OS : Windows 7 Pro
GPU : ASUS HD 6770
HDD : Patriot Pyro SE 60Gb SSD

I decided to get a better GPU that the 6450 I originally planed, and it's the only thing that is not installed.

However, the GPU as a recommended system requirement of 500w PSU with 40A for the 12V plug but my PSU only as 34A. What do you think ? Do I need to upgrade my PSU already ?

Tks
