If Kepler doesn't live up to the hype, I would go to MSI Lightning 7970 instead of GTX 580.

Yeah I'm pretty damn sure the GK104 is the midrange chip here dudes. Everyone seems to forget they officially announced their rollout plan was going to be done backwards this time round. GK110, sometime in late 2012 will be the GTX 580 flagship replacement card. If the GK104 can actually compete with AMD's 7970 then I guess we can prepare to collectively mess ourselves once the real deal GK110 comes down the pipe.

I agree completely. I hope the big guns are coming out soon, but I really doubt it.

Haha, I guess now is a good time for people who aren't looking to upgrade. I can just sit this one out and think about the 8870 and 780 next year tongue.gif

Nvidia surely has to release at least one card that is better than the 7970? I just don't think they can keep losing market share for the next 6-9 months. Making a profit is kind of a big deal in this financial environment.

As much as I love NVIDIA, my short on their stock is paying off big time. AMD is creaming them in execution on the GPU front, and without an x86 license, they're going to go nowhere fast in the low end gpu arena.

Well, Kyle from Hard has seen info... 40-50% faster than 580 which would put it 20+% faster than 7970. And this is just GK104...

Shall be interesting. Kyle wouldn't even post about something he thought was fake, but we will take it with a grain of salt as always.

I am seeing information out of China this morning showing 45% to 50% performance increase over 580 in canned benchmarks.
