The coolers with the Sandy Bridge 35W T models are much shorter and are the correct size for the Habey 600 series cases. Even with that cooler it's a tight fit.
All the Habey 800 and 600 series cases come with a 60W (12A 5V) power adapter. The 120W rating is for the internal PSU circuitry. Don't ask me why they did that. If you want to have the overhead of 120W then you'll have to get a new power adapter or Pico PSU. If you try to find a new power adapter then make sure it fits the internal PSU input requirements and power plug size:
Input Voltage Range: 11.2VDC - 14.8VDC
Input Current Range: 12.0A Max @11.2VDC
Power Adapter End Connector Size: 5.5*2.5mm
I know all this first hand as I own both the EMC-800S and EMC-600B. For more info see my HTPC EMC-800S build thread.

What do you guys think of the AMD A8-3850 compared to the i3?

If you don't want to have to replace the stock cooler then yes go with a i3 2120T or Pentium G630T. If you are going to get an aftermarket low profile cooler then you can use any dual-core Sandy Bridge chip but a 35W chip would guarantee that it will fit within the 60W limit of the power adapter.

the a8 is about the performance of a pentium g620 in terms of processing power, only time that the a8 would see a slight advantage is multi core (3/4 core) applications, but usually its around a g620, i3 would perform better overall in comparison to the a8

hmmm... if your looking for 4 theads go with the i3 2100t models if you feel you only need 2 go with a pentium i would say the pentiums arent to far behind the i3 t models, and like ben said they would put you under the 60 watts
