If you understood the implemented netcode and differences between both platforms, it would be clear as day.

Exactly this. CS:GO which runs on the newest orange box was originally made to run at 66tic. Current situation is 100 tick, the way the game needs to be for the most optimal registration.

Consoles would most likely be forced at 30fps, or even possibly 60 if they're lucky. Now by looking at this, you'll instantly realize they're missing 70 to 40 updates. The end result would give console users a disadvantage.

I still can't figure out why people are disappointed that cross-platform is taken out. Console players are at a huge disadvantage without even including the fact the majority of console players will not bother with a mouse and keyboard. People who play on the console enjoy it because they can play it from their couch. In fact it wouldn't even be fun playing against PC players do to the disadvantage. Look at ShadowRun for example as to why cross platform just doesn't work. in terms of a even playing field.

Speaking to Joystiq, Valve’s Chet Faliszek explained that cross-platform play was removed due to what Valve has learned from the beta . Faliszek stated, “the beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC, to do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn’t hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play – essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them.”
Valve has yet to pin down a specific release date, but the company revealed that the downloadable title will release this Summer on PC/Mac, PS3, and Xbox 360.
I was really hoping for a cross platform gameplay multiplayer, boo mad.gif

U know why I was hoping for it?

so we could show once and for all that PC gamers are better then little 12 yr old on xbox live lol

This is actually a good thing for the PC, it means Valve is still very much a PC developer and doesn't want to harm its core market and values.
Besides, we all know that, generally, people playing with controllers can't beat people playing with a keyboard and mouse.

I agree that it is certainly a good thing for PC players... Patching and updating on consoles really does take a lot of time and money. Although I would be funny to play against console player getting 30FPS and using controllers biggrin.gif

this game is just another fps, im done caring personally, but i would have nejoyed splattering my friend on his PS3, thats all.

like i said, I was done with CS back in CS 1.3 for HL1.Im not longer available for Competitive Play anyway and have not competed in any league of any form since 2002?

for me to want to FPS again, I would need Day of Defeat Sourc2.

Or a game with a Truly, 100% Grain by Grain destructible environment. Like if I cannot Kill my Target, I want to be able to blow the support legs out of a building and crash it down ontop of him lol. and Not just a Single Player, pre-Determined destructible area, I mean if I am in a City fighting, I want it to be able to look like Hiroshima at the end of the round =)

But good for them , hope its a good game, and hope that you can Still Surf when Bored

Are they really THAT lazy?

Who cares about graphics? There's a reason 1.6 is more popular than css.

I'm curious as to what makes Source superior?

Source is much less forgiving to players who makes mistakes. Non controlled sprays, the ice skating movement that still allows full accuracy, peekers advantage, and etc just to name off a few reasons why Source is easier.

Actually, it's not orangebox as far as I'm aware... correct me if im wrong tongue.gif Also. 66.666 is technically the optimal rate for OB, but I don't want to get into that smile.gif

PS3 netcode will look something like this.

max_fps "30" vsync'd
cl_updaterate "30" locked
cl_cmdrate "30" locked
cl_interp "0.033333" locked
cl_interp_ratio "2" = 66.6ms interpolation via 2 frames.
rate "30000" locked

PC (modified via 100 tick/fps server)

max_fps "whatever"
cl_updaterate "100"
cl_cmdrate "100"
cl_interp "0.01"
cl_interp_ratio "2" = 20ms interpolation via 2 frames. cl_interp_ratio "1" = 10ms / 1 frame per update
rate "set optimal based on actual internet connection"

What are the defaults for PC btw?

Agree. REAL CS players know this isn't even meant for console, let alone cross-platform. And to the guy saying this is the only selling point, you must be new. smile.gif
