The registry modification that worked in the Developer Preview does not work on the Consumer Preview.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
change value of RPEnabled from "1" to "0"
close regedit, you get your old start menu......the catch is, no more metro UI because you just disabled it. To get back the Metro UI, change the value back to "1"

Notice the date Sept 2011

That particular entry is not in the Consumer Preview, trust me it's the first thing I looked for. Adding it doesn't change anything either.

Yay! A stardock product...

Products for people who love to pretend they're using a different OS.

Good, they made it look pretty nice too. Will pushing the "windows" key make the start menu come up instead of the Metro screen?

No idea. It'd be nice but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Yay! A generalization...

People use stuff if it's gets them the function and/or form they want. I use Object Dock for game icons for both function and form reasons. It's my personal PC (redundant?) and that's my personal liking, so I do it.

According to your claim, I'm trying to make my PC an Apple? I do not really care for Apple. I do it because it gives me the personalization I desire.

Things aren't just Black and White.
