AMD FX 8120 Running HOT?

Hello all, I was wondering if my temps seem high with no overclocking done yet. All I did so far was up my ram from 1333 to 1600 and manual stock timings at 9-9-9-24

Cool and Quiet disabled

I'm idle at 35c and 42c with prime 95 running all cores 100%

My Setup:
AMD FX 8120
Gigabyte 970A-UD3
Corsair XMS3 8GB 1600mhz 9-9-9-24
Zalman cooler CNP9700 http://www.zalman.com/eng/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=165 and
Antec 900 case w/ all fans running
9600 GT OC
Corsair TX750

I wouldn't say that's very high, depends on ambient temperature.

My room temp is about 70deg.

I used a little bit of thermal paste only in the very middle of the cpu. Any idea's of why its running this high?

I honestly don't know much about that cooler, and BD is naturally hot, it seems fairly normal to my untrained Intel eye. You still have alot of room to OC I assume, 65C is my safezone for intel.

Shut it down! quick! Something is very wrong, you might burn something up. rolleyes.gif

That's pretty good with that cooler. What's your Vcore set at. Should be at 1.23v and should try cool and quiet, at 8 cores its running pretty good.thumb.gif

My room mate has the same processor and mobo on a stock cpu cooler with a piece of **** case that has only one fan and he is running idle at 21c.. How am I running at 35c idle?

Maybe because I have cool and quiet disabled and he doesn't?

My FX-8150 running folding@home on all 8 cores via two VM's runs at 39oC-42oC with a Noctua heatsink. I would be happy with 42oc runnning all cores at 100%.
