You will be blown away:
(If you don't like open box get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157233
$79.99 but MORE expensive $74.99)
$64.99 Open box but Quality motherboard.
$36.99 8gb of Mushkin ram, they're a good company and this ram is similar to other generic ram, but being Mushkin they will support their product.
$17.99 24x dvd burner
$124.99 Getting the "higher end" i3's won't make a difference
$73.99 SERIOUSLY. GET THIS. It will last you forever and it's THE BEST case for the price. It's quality and it's tough. You'll be fine doing rigs in that for years to come.
No shipping charges.
Total = $318.95
If you chose the asrock = 333.95
Oh also, the motherboards chosen are good, and in a few years if the i3 isn't cutting it/starts to die (3-5 years), you can pick up a quad core for cheap, a gpu for cheap, and even a TINY SSD for the OS. Make sure that you set the default save location to the D drive, your 500gb hdd, so it does it for them automatically though.
They'll be able to handle an extra 18.95 I'm sure. Any time they have a bit of free cash (60-100 I know it's a lot but still) recommend they pick up a 30gb nova or 32gb agility 2 ssd. Put the OS there and use the HDD as a (DEFAULT) storage/normal drive.
Also if they'd like to minimize costs/keep it as cheap as possible, go for a logisys case...Edited by JassimH - 3/7/12 at 2:01am
