I have a very similiar rig to you...

i5 2500k, 8gb ram, asrock extreme3 gen3 mobo, Asus 6950 2gb, 64bit win7, m4 ssd as main and a 1tb hdd.

Ive been getting a "fff.fff fatal exception error" or something similiar to that error code when I try to launch Tera, which is also a digital download. What error are you getting?

Btw ive installed heaps of games from cd without issuea but it must besomething with the damn digital download.

Did you try uninstalling your graphics driver, running driver sweeper, and then re-installing the most up-to-date graphics driver?

Also, to add to that is go to your nvidia control panel and look for all power management things for the 3d application profile or whatnot, and turn on 'Maximum Performance' instead of default and Adaptive. That one thing fixed a lot of my 560Ti driver crashes and dx errors (384 not the 448 version though but my brother with the 550Ti had the same issues).

I have bf3 and it's a digital download, gave me issues at the beginning but it wasn't hardware on my side's fault it was EA and their backend. I've switched to a 6970 though for more vram.

Did some research for ya and found this:

Well well well.. Mike, thankyou for pointing in the right direction with regards to trouble shooting this. It turns out, after doing a clean boot, it wasn't any of the services but one of the startup items . After disbaling groups of startup applications and restarting narrowed it down.

EVGA Precision and it's Wrappers cause DirectX9 to fail on windows 7. Well at least on my installation. Now everything works, i.e. all DX9 games.

Thanks Mike.

So try checking your startup items under msconfig and see if EVGA precision is running, that could be the problem.

If that doesn't work or if you don't have that service try creating a new user profile under Windows 7, installing a DX9 game on there and see if you get the same error.
