Unlocking/ Rooting Blackberry Curve 8520

Thread Starter
Hi,

Is there anyway of unlocking a T-Mobile Blackberry Curve 8520 without having to pay for a code? Also will rooting the phone, if possible, have the same effect as unlocking it?

I am looking at doing this for a friend, and am not a Blackberry user. I'm only familiar with rooting Androids.

Eddie.

You can't root/jailbreak a BlackBerry, that only works with Android and iPhones. If he still is a subscriber to T-Mobile, he could just call them, as IIRC they are legally required to give him the code. Even if he isn't a subscriber, he could try that. There are free unlocking services online too, not sure about any legit ones though.

The only safest way to unlock a Blackberry mobile model is to unlock using unlock code. rooting won't unlock a Blackberry device from network restriction. You can get the unlock code for a Tmobile network locked Blackberry Curve from www.unbblock.com at low cost with easy unlocking guide.
