yet another wich mobo to get?

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
hi guys.
first off im a amd guy and im going to the dark side as im getting a 2600k from a friend so i need to get rid of my amd stuff.
im a little confused on wich one is best.
i tried to read alot and i think i made a good decission to choose between these boards.
in the feature i wanna upgrade it to a ivy bridge so from what i already found i need to get a z68 chipset to support it by default or a p67 wich will be able in the future with a bios update.
im also looking at the gen 3 boards to have the pci 3.0 and ofcourse if i gonna buy a new mobo i would like it to have the sata III so i can get full power out of my ssd and usb3.0 as my case has those connections
so i looked on the site where i always order my stuff as they are cheapest here in holland that i know off.
first off here is the site im looking at:

http://www.alternate.nl/html/categoryListing.html?cat1=16&cat2=515&cat3=0&bfbox=1&&tn=HARDWARE&l1=Moederborden&l2=Intel&l3=Socket+1155&

i linked it already to the mobo 1155 section as it might be hard for you guys to navigate threu the site wich is dutch.
im looking at a give or take 150 euro for the mobo and i came up with these boards

ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 $149.90

ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 $147.90

ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 $164.90

ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 $164.90

im a little worried though about the maximus being a uatx and being verry small compared to the atx boards:p
also when i buy these mobo i will add 8gb crossair vengence 1600mhz and i will buy a antec h20 920 closed cpu water cooler
can a small uatx board handle the strength of a the clc?
or you guys have any other ideas of something better in the same price range?
maybe gskill sniper or ripjaws ram?
link to ram page:
http://www.alternate.nl/html/highlights.html?hgid=1228&&tgid=1370&tn=HARDWARE&l1=Geheugen&

thnaks for youre tips/help:)

Gene z/Gen3 is my vote thumb.gif
reason
  • the SB CPU clocks like a dream on that motherboard buddy
  • it might be a Matx but does not have any less feature AFAIK
  • and lastly my personal favourite you get a onboard SupremeFX X-Fi 2 biggrin.gif

Hope that helped thumb.gif

from your selection
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 as its a really solid board and ASrock are really producing quailty products now.

ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z/GEN3 would be my first choice as it is feature packe, ROG cert, and can do easily xfire or sli of the new cards at x8 x8..

although at this point in time if you hold oout you could get a good z77 next month and take full advantage of IB features is another option smile.gif
