Not many people build the rigs on here for need, but for want and flash, you gotta know that lol
Oh I'm well aware of that lol. I have a 4P sitting on my desk just for F@h. After doing a whole 3930k/7970 build myself I just don't believe it's a worthy chipset. You pay a lot more for those extra 2 cores, especially considering for games you could pick up an X58 chip and board to run quad sli. Then on the "pure power side" it cost me more then my 4P did which has A LOT more power then SB-E. Heh.

Bleh. Like I said above, after doing an X79 build I found it much more worth it to do two separate builds. The X79 chipset is overkill for gaming but insufficient with things like folding. I owned a 3930k/rive/7970 for about a week before I tore it apart and built a 4P. And I'm just about done with my X58 setup for games and such.
Lastly, I like everyone else who has responded here, would love to pick an SR-X. But again, it just is not worth the cash. A fully pimped out SR-X ($5000+) would get as much my $3000 4P in terms of folding points per day. And it'd game... but it might not be that awesome as there isn't any games and won't be for a while that supports 16 cores/32 threads. The low clock speed might be kind of a hindrance...Edited by derickwm - 3/6/12 at 7:37pm
