Asus and other brands have boards that cost 200$ less or so, would EVGA really make a board this epic, and use so much time on the fully overclockable bios if they knew Intel would not release unlocked Xeons for 2011?
Kingpin also did a run on this a while ago, running 4 gpu's and the cpu on LN2, why LN2 on a locked cpu?...
I think EVGA has this under full control. Obviously they would like Intel to have unlocked cpu's from the start, but that's not happening.
I agree with you for the most part. The only problem I see is that the SR-X was announced quite a while ago, before E5 Xeon details were leaked I believe. Obviously if the SR-X either was canceled or lacked all those features you talked about then people would put the blame on EVGA, regardless if Intel released unlocked CPUs or not. By keeping to their "claims" and releasing the board with full fledged features nobody can put the blame on EVGA. Which is 100% working for them; besides the odd placement of SATA ports and the blue USB 3.0 Header everyone in here, including myself, has just been pointing the blame finger at Intel.
Imagine if EVGA canceled the SR-X after sneak peaking it. The entire computing community would just be saddened and would be annoyed with EVGA. Or imagine if the SR-X came out and the features you're talking were actually held back, then everyone would really be disappointed and again blame EVGA. At least at this point EVGA has held up their end of the deal and can no way be blamed for this "disaster". They might be aware of something we are not, or maybe not. If they aren't then they probably won't produce many SR-X boards, but they know for sure that the ones they did produce will sell out. Even with all the hate there will still be a large amount of people who will buy this board.
