Hello i thinking about sell my card MSI GTX570 TFIII and get two Gigabyte Radeon 6870 OC 1GB for Battlefield 3.. Now i can play on 1080p 27' with steady 60fps medium settings but If i had better performace with CF? My PSU is good (XFX XXX W650) and CPU is 2500K MB have support CF. What are you thinking about this?

Well.. Yes, you would get better performance. But all in all, it would be a loss. You're basically downgrading to two older, "low end" cards compared to a mid-high end card. The best thing to do would be to buy another 570 if possible wink.gif

Otherwise, you would be fine. Your PSU has plenty of watt to power that setup.

dont do it. overclock your 570, and play BF3 on high settings without mlaa.

My 2 460 hawks - which are similar to the 6870s - have far too much power for the 1gb of vram, and althought its constant 60fps on high mode, ultra is unplayable because of vram.

Also more heat, power, noise and driver issues with multi-gpu.

My friend got a 570TFIII power edition and I overclocked it to 940 for him, id much rather prefer to have his card than my two, as they dont really offer a better experience, but do come with more hasstle.

Ok its nice to get a solid 60 fps on any setting that falls within the vram limit but it just seems like a real waste and since im on matx the top card wants to take off. Im probably gona end up underclocking them when my faulty card comes back to keep the noise down

If you are looking at selling the GTX570 and then upgrading. I would probably recommend that you upgrade to the best single card you can.

OP, I have 2x 6950CF 1GB @ 1080p.

I have to set textures to high and turn MSAA off in BF3 multiplayer to make it playable (beware). The game still looks good, but I can't max because it chokes sometimes when I play certain maps (i.e. Karkand and Gulf of Oman). The 570 should be fine w/ settings dialed down a bit at 1080p. There are a lot of good BF3 tweaking articles on the internet that you can read up on to help. I'd try that before you spend more money.

If that doesn't work, then I'd be thinking about these options.

1. add second 570 in SLI
2. sell the 570 and get a 7870/Kepler 2GB equivalent (single card)

Good luck...

I am no expert on this but I agree with this guy. You should be getting way better FPS on medium settings. A GTX 570 is a really powerful card.

As for your question, I definitely would say stick with a GTX 570. You would get better performance with the crossfire setup but you'd be downgrading to an older GPU. Stay with the 570 and try to get another one if you want better FPS. Especially with the new nVidia gpus coming out later this month. That should drop the price down on the 570.

How is a 6870 a low-end card?

1 x 570 = better than 1 x 6870
2 x 6870 = better than 1 x 570
2 x 570 = better than 2 x 6870

Either buy another 570, or sell it and grab 2 6870s 2GB.

Or;

Just buy a 7970 which is better than both the 570 and 6870.
