these are just a selection of quality boards in the x79 line up.. smile.gif

Add in the Asrock extreme 9, Asus Rampage IV, Asus WS x79, and Giga x79OC, and now you have the best of the best. Oh and the evga classy board.

If you read my OP you'd know I'm rather averse to ASUS tongue.gif and by extension ASRock

Also the only problem with my plan is that the only version of the big bang in stock anywhere is $999 and comes with a 7970, which is great except I already have a 580 that I know and love and nowhere near that kind of cash x.x;

Well it does fulfill part of the claim, best list of motherboards.

You could stick to Giga's parts, either the ud5 for WS builds or the x79oc or the ud3. All fantastic boards.

It's all good XD and yeah, if the UD7 popped up for sale it would be in the running. I'm slightly put off by the UD5 just because it's a smaller board but it looks decent.

Also I know EVGA has a great warranty, anybody have comments on others? Particularly GB and MSI

Unless EVGA can get their act together in the next few weeks, I think I'm gonna go with the BigBang. Thanks for the input everyone!

I'm looking for boards as well, planning out a 2011 build in the next couple weeks. I'm a Gigabyte fan but it seems that ASUS has the edge on these.

I've avoided Asus for a bit now but the M4A79XTD Evo I used last year kind of won me back.

Did the brand rub you wrong or is there something up with their 2011 boards?

Too bad that big bang II board does not have such attention like extreme 4, I believe it's really great board as well, might missing bluetooth adapter or fancy oc key but overall product is top rated. Speeking od bioses MSI probably has most friendly and nice looking gui and interface, comparing to evga line which is very monotonous. On the other hand I personally like evga idea with more usb 3 ports even though their era is still to come, thus board layout and build is really impressive, too bad I can't say that for their bios.
And regarding gigabytes x79-ud7 aka OC I'm sorry to say this but mbo is far away from old and real x58a-OC....

Overall they all great boards, all have some good and the bad side, it's up to you to decide which will suit you best. wink.gif

Gogogogo. And give me some valid reasons why, please, so I can make a decent decision. I've been AMD my whole life so yeah.

You give me some valid reasons why anything but ASUS???!!!

I've had a really bad time with ASUS (see my rant ) and as much as I love the features on the Crosshair V I have, I don't want to give them any more of my cash.
Sidenote: anybody know if there's a 2011 UD7 in the works? UD5 looks pretty spiffy, I like the G1 but it doesn't really go with my color scheme, though I could always just get other lights. Any comments on the BigBang X-Power?

No, you had a really bad time using AMD... AMD sucks, ok?!

I've had and build (for others) about 100 setups ALL with ASUS mobo's (Intel duh!!!) and NEVER EVER 1 let me down! ALL the people who had other PC's were NEVER going back to something else when they let me build a PC for them (with ASUS/Intel setup)

And as you can see in almost EVERY reply on your thread, EVERYBODY advices ASUS... Guess why?

Buy any X79 board but I think not the GENE. (It's cheaper but it doesn't feel right for me)

You REALLY need socket 2011? Cause if I were you, I'd buy Z68 chipset with SB or IB... "Very" cheap, Kepler ready, USB3.0, SATA III/6.0, and PCI-e 3.0

You will not be unhappy anymore. Really AMD is the cause of all your probs...

Don't want to be rude, but I feel attacked wink.gif (as you can guess by my nickname...) I'm not a child, I'm 32 years old, so I don't want to act childish, but you REALY need an INTEL setup dude!!! wink.gif

Once you have tasted ASUS/Intel combo, there is just no way back... And I mean that! (and not only me wink.gif)

Buy the MSI Big Bang_Xpower II... that is, if you can find it...!

It has not been on sale in 2 weeks, anywhere.

ASUSfreak. You are clearly an ASUS fanboy, look at your name. Which is fine, I'm an EVGA fanboy. Despite what people are saying about the motherboard I'm still seriously considering buying it.

I didn't have a bad time with AMD. The processor functions flawlessly, just the performance is underwhelming, but it does what was on the box. So did my Crosshair V. I'll give you the tl;dr of what is in the rant I linked. When the board stopped working a couple weeks ago, I had an awful time with their customer service which I don't want to repeat. While I like the product itself (the crosshair had some incredible features), if the customer service behind it isn't there I will have nothing to do with them. And if you checked my sig you would see my 580 is EVGA.
