[NCIX/Canada] WAREHOUSE CLEARANCE SALE [FINISHED] - results discussion thread

Thread Starter

The WAREHOUSE SALE is FINISHED.  Until next-time everyone!
xd's estimate on the next warehouse sale: Mid-summer (June) or post-summer (November)

UPDATE 3: Some resulting deals, many of which weren't revealed online before the sale

WH sale has closed and finished!  I'm having a look at some of the results now.  Some of my friends came out with really awesome deals.

$10 for an E2160 (although I've gotten better deals for Athon II dual cores that's pretty sweet), and a 1TB 3.5" hard drive at $30 (that was not announced online).  Now that's something thumb.gif

Here's another; full i5 2300 system for $200

Wow, Windows 7 at warehouse sales!?

There were many deals because even at 4PM there were some good grabs:

Too bad the 420W PSU in that Elite 335 is really crummy (I owned one, and later sold it in favour of a CX 430 V2 - it's really more of a 200W with a weak 12V rail, mediocre).  But the R3 for $50 is a sweet deal.  The remaining items?  Not bad.  23" 120hz monitor for $199, wow.  I think I'm going to aim for a 120hz monitor in a post-summer WH sale.

UPDATE 2: Wi-fi at the warehouse sale?

If anyone wants or needs wifi, there is a location near the warehouse building that provides a free and open connection.  I disocvered it last time.

I actually got NCIX to provide it back during the May 2011 warehouse sale.... then they never did again.

But if you're willing to walk to this location which is not far at all from the main building, a connection exists there; I think the open network is called LDGuest or Philips Lighting Canada-guest.  It does work.  It's totally open.

--------------------------------------------------------

NOTICE: For those wondering, yes you do pay 12% harmonized sales tax here.  It's not a used item/secondary market sale per-se.

This is a mass computer warehouse sale event that is occurring in Richmond, British Columbia (near Vancouver), Canada ONLY, hosted by NCIX - a popular North American online retailer based in Richmond.  Folks from Victoria and Seattle area, do come if you wish!

I'm not sure when one for Ontario is coming up.

ATTN THOSE LINING UP: This is the forecast for that night [CLICK HERE].  Rain 2-7 C.  It will be rainy, but there will be some sheltered/covered area.

--------------------------------------------------------

Stay tuned for some deal call outs to come!  There will be "more items than ever!"

THAT WAS FAST O_O the last one occurred on January 14th of this year

Announced on Facebook:

--------------------------------------------------------

So why are these awesome and exciting and worth staying/lining up the entire night for?

Here is a video of some of the epic deals STEALS from the last warehouse sale (Jan 2012):

Noteworthy items from Jan 2012:

  • Several $5 cases (mostly Logisys stuff, cheap.... many include PSUs but are poor PSUs)
  • $1 card readers (there will probably be several $1 items including wireless adapters)
  • Several routers (Netgear, Trendnet routers are super cheap)
  • 4-port USB VGA KVM switch for just $10
  • ASUS eeePad Transformer - $200 for 16GB (4 available), $250 for 32GB (2 available)
  • $169 for Gigabyte G1 Sniper motherboards
  • P55-GD55 for $50
  • M4A87TD EVO $49
  • Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 $99
  • Several other tablets in the $100-150 range
  • Tons of laptops for ridiculous discounts (i.e. i7 2630QM laptops for $700)
  • $500 for an LED 3D monitor from ASUS (ASUS VG278H)
  • Corsair 500R for $79
  • There just happened to be one oddity: An Antec 1200 for $10, I got that!
  • A $799 Intel Extreme Ed processor
  • $49 Antec Mini P180 White
  • Microwaves LOL
  • $129 SP2500 speakers
  • $19 EagleTech speaker system of sorts
  • Cheap printers and scanners of course, as low as $10 for a Pixma MP250; there might be $5 printers
  • Tons of NCIX PCs - bottom shelf, turn right after entrance
  • There is an AMD Socket K7 motherboard in the misc FREE PARTS bin
  • $149 for a DJ system - $350 off - Sony LBTDJ21 Xross Fade DJ System Dual iPod Dock USB MP3
  • BenQ G2222HDL 21.5" 1080p monitor (I own this one but I want something bigger so it's all yours!) for $70.  I spotted at least two.
  • Several 24" for $100-120
  • 27" Samsung for $200

Some examples of deals I have personally gotten from these warehouse sales (I've been to 5 previous and this might be my 6th!):

  • $10 Antec 1200 (that's right, a massive, good condition Antec 1200 for just $10 - that was extremely lucky!)
  • 2TB WD Green HDD (or Seagate Barracuda Green) - $40 (this can be expected to be higher this time if there are any hard drives due to the shortage)
  • 1080p monitors - $70-100 (a lot of monitors are usually available - last time I got a 23.6" LED for $90 and also 2 24" LEDs for $100 each)
  • Old motherboards - $5 each (I got AM2 boards and even a P35 LGA775 board last time)
  • New motherboards - P55 and X58 for cheap for one, some P67s/etc were present last time.  AM3s too.
  • Printers for cheap ($5 even)
  • Several good case deals (i.e. $5 for cheap SFF units, $15 for HAF 912s even..... high end stuff at serious discounts)
  • Epic deals on laptops and netbooks
  • Awesome video card deals: $100 for HD 5850, GTX 460..... $200 GTX 570s (high end cards are often cheap) actually there /were/ $120 GTX 570s last time in Ontario.... $15 for an HD 4850 once (I claimed that!) and $60 for an HD 4870 X2
  • Some hidden deals.... $15 Antec EA380D power supply (that's right, $15 for a new in box EA380D 80+ certified PSU. With a case too, but it was broken)
  • Lots of misc stuff they might happen to get rid of.

For reference, here's the thread for the previous sale [CLICK HERE]

Tips for OCNers - what to expect:

  • Long lineups - seriously long lineups (stretching around the building) - ARRIVE EARLY, first-come first-serve!  The last time I dared arrive at 5:40AM there were already 60 people in line - way more than last time.
  • No bags allowed inside (but they will allow you to leave any at the door)
  • Usually with a limit of one item per person per category
  • Note that these are mostly open box and discontinued items or refurbished items, some may come with a manufacturer warranty.  All items come with a 7 day store warranty.

Thread set up too tongue.gif will you be there?

I myself don't see a particular need for anything but I'll see what I can come up with.  This'll be something I'll come to on a tiny budget compared to the last times but I'll see what I can get.  Perhaps a new pair of headphones, or RAM, or other goodies :)

This might be something I will skip.  But then again, "more items than ever".... and Spring Break immediately follows it anyway...... :)
I do need a PCI-E gigabit ethernet card (current one in media server is a PCI and is being bottlenecked by PCI)

EventHorizon: Laptop? Tablet? Tablet would be pretty useful, perhaps.

I'll see what I can find this time or if it's worth going to.  But what I'm really waiting for is a post-summer warehouse sale.  I want to take my summer earnings to that one and come out with a nice laptop biggrin.gif

Citra; Not sure of Ontario and when they'll get another one :/

Timing is kind of sad since my friend really wanted to go to these, but he's leaving for Korea for Spring Break.
