Video cards do one WU and then go to sleep.

I have 3 different machines and 4 video cards folding right now through FAH GPU Tracker. They all will complete one WU and then they stop. Here is what the log says:

If I stop the GPUS and then restart them it works fine until it finishes that WU and then it does this again. Not really sure what is going on. For reference the video cards are:

Two GTX 460's
GTX 560 Ti
HD 7970

Thanks.

"CoreStatus = 63 (99)
+ Error starting Folding@Home core.
Generically, this error is reported when some initial fahcore startup requirement is not met.

Permission issues? (FAH V5.04)
Folding-community: Error starting Folding@Home core.

With the SMP for Windows client, a CoreStatus = 63 can either be a permissions problem or a MPI registration problem, or both. To fix the problem, set the properties of the fah.exe file to "Run as Administrator" and then run the "install.bat" file again to register MPI and the SMPD service.

Failure to install .NET 2.0 (Win 2K, XP) prior to installing the SMP client can also result in this error.

v5.91 and v6.x
Folding-community: Error starting Folding@Home core."

I would suggest that you change the permissions to administrator for the shorcut and .exe file

I have seen this problem a few times but hopefully this will fix it. I think it may pop up depending on how your windows OS security is setup. If you have all the pop ups asking for permission I think this problem may happen because the core needs permission to run and is denied by windows automatically

Reporting success on this one. +Rep. I set both the shortcuts to my GPU's to run as administrator and set the exe itself to run as administrator under the compatibility tab, also disabled UAC for good measure but ill probably test again with it enabled. They just turned over their first work unit then and proceeded to start another (about 3-4% completed now). Thanks for the fix. I hope it works for you as well krisco smile.gif

Hmmm This could tell us something but i'm not quite sure. (Strokes his beard). But i had this problem a while back i did a driver reinstall and i downclocked and it worked. Then i overclocked again and it still worked. So i'm not quite sure.

No fairly sure the core is just not getting permission to run. The core is going to try to run, get denied, and then try to restart. Windows does not know that you want it to have permission so it just denies it.

Good job crystal. Another thing I have seen cause something similar to this is the 295.73 WHQL Nvidia drivers, they would put the card to sleep for seemingly no reason. I forgot what exact error it would show up as in the log but the symptoms where the same, after completing a WU successfully the next one just wouldn't start. This is just a guess though, crystalhand seems like he is more familiar with this specific error.

So I tried setting everything to run as admin to no avail. Im going to try installing an older driver to see if that helps.
