I don't know why you changed your mind so quickly. If I OC my CPU it will destory every AMD made right now. If you were prepared to go Core2 at the start, why change now. Intel is the king right now. Loyalty is bs. Theya re making crap CPUs therefore you soudlnt support them. Intel deserve you custom, they made an AWESOME CPU.

Then you'd buy the ford wouldn't you? Especially if it could be turbocharged and beat the most powerful Datsun for far far less. In the end, the datsun is slower. You lose if you buy the datsun.

TBH there is no need to go AM2 since the only advantage over S939 is the use of DDR2. There have been many discussions over the merits of DDR2 but with AMD's current technology the increase in speed that DDR2 offers is offset by the increased latencies.

On the other hand Intels current technology is far superior to AMD's offerings since Intel CPUs are not so susseptable to timings and bandwidth is king.

Money is always a very big issue. Intel or AMD...Who cares. Whatever fits in your budget at that time is the answere.

Hes not a fanboy. Core 2 Duo may be good but it depends on his budget. Sticking with AMD save money as you dont have to change your RAM for starters.

Yeah thats what i did. I picked up a DFI mobo, CPU and Graphics card for a mere £200.

Then used my DDR400 from my previous rig.

When I priced up a new, C2D setup the price was £500.

Performance wise he C"D would have destroyed this S939 rig but for the money this S939 is a bargain

Thats how i see it mate. I will be going for AMD simply as it saves alot of money as i would only have to change motherboard and CPU and keep my RAM
