I've done it! I'm making the switch on over to Intel!

So, with a LOT of thinking, research, questions here on OCN, and quite a bit of money from my Tax return, I'm now switching over to Intel from AMD.

I've always used AMD, and now, with the disappointment that was Bulldozer, and the OC results of the 3820 Intel CPU, I've decided to go to the dark side (or light side, depending on who you ask.)
Yesterday I ordered an Asrock Extreme 6/GB and a 3820. Along with about 400 bucks in additional watercooling gear to go with my already high priced WC stuff, and a Crucial M4 SSD!

So, does anyone have any suggestions on getting started on the new platform? I'm pretty excited to get going! And what's more, I'll be using the NZXT Switch 810 chassis. Pretty apropos, I think.

Nice upgrade man, congrats. I too will be going Intel in a few weeks.

Download the new Uefi/BIOS from Asrock now, and put them on a USB stick so you can do that first thing. Then, take it easy. I just did the switch from an unlocked 555BE to a 2600k, and the performance increase was amazing. Plus no SLI hack! Yay! The CPU socket will look deeply scary to an ex-AMD clocker, it still only fits in one way round tho. Other than that, enjoy it, and leak test with a spare PSU plugged only into the pump, like you do every time, right?
Plus you can now sit back and gloat at all us poor s1155 plebians who can't touch their bclk without everything crashing horribly. (1-5Mhz doesn't count...)

Oh, that is a good idea. I hear that the most recent UEFI update addressed a lot of earlier issues.

Leak test is a definite. I've actually always measured and set up everything without liquid, then done a 24 hour leak test, then mounted the electronics (mb, psu, drives, etc) after the test is finished. This also allows for time to get some of those larger air bubbles out.

I'm still a little confused about this whole BCLK thing, but I'll read up on it. +Rep smile.gif
