Lightroom 4 worth upgrading to?

Thread Starter
I currently have LR3, what's the advantages of LR4? It seems like it wasn't long ago that LR3 came out...

I see there's a beta download, haven't had time to check it out.

the "new features" dont seem like a major improvement. I have no upgraded yet but i would most likely say that its just a slight improvement on the software itself and doesnt include anything revolutionary

I upgraded I think its worth it.

LR4 has an entirely new processing program which renders images differently, to my tastes I find it much better. The Recovery and Fill light sliders are gone and have been replaced with Black and White sliders instead. The effect of these making overall changes to black and white levels of the spectrum is much better than the equivilent in LR3. You can now access the RGB channels which you couldnt do in LR3. Also the clarity slider does not impact the brighness levels as signifcantly as it did in LR3.

I keep hearing from other photogs that its resource and power hungry and crap and they flail their arms and cry hard done by etc, but since I just built a new 2011 quad system with 16g ram I dont feel like its gonna be a major issue.

Anyone have any info on it?

My 2+ year old i7/920 @ 4.0 GHz with 12gb ram runs it without much of an issue.

Not much of a difference. Just Download some presets and its all good.
much more powerful. LR4 uses adobe camera raw 2012 and LR3 uses adobe camera raw 2010. Presets will not provide that
