MSI 6950 twin frozr III, 2 GB problem

Hello

I have a problem with my MSI 6950 Twin Frozr III, 2 GB version.

When I try to run games like SKyrim, Crysis 2, MY pc always locks up after 30 seconds to 1 minute. It doesn't happen with other games. I'm running on default catalyst settings. It doesn't happen when I play BF 3.

This has been happening since I got the GPU. From catalyst version 11.8 to 12.3 (im currently using this).

What i've noticed that when I downlock the default memory/core speed, by like 25/30 each, my PC will not crash then.

Is my GPU broken? What is causing this?

is it unstable with default clocks? Should I RMA it?

It shouldn't be overheating in that short amount of time, so I don't think that could be it. Is your power supply being driven to its limit?

How long have you had it? If you've been having issues since you got it, and you've had it for any length of time, I would def RMA it right away. 11.8 came out last September, tell me you haven't waited that long with a faulty card!

Also, system specs please!

Uninstall Catalyst and all third party software such as Afterburner, Atitool, etc.

Clean it with (turn off UAC to install this file); Atiman Uninstaller v.6.3.1

Install Official Catalyst 12.1; http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx

Hey thanks for the answers.

I'm not really sure about the powersupply. It's soon 2 years old. But I wonder shouldn't BF 3 with ultra high drive it to limits also if Crysis 2 /Skyrim are?

System Specs:
OS : WIN 7 64 bit
PSU : Chieftec 650w super series http://www.chieftec.com/power_super.html
CPU : intel i7 2600k @ 4.0 ghz.
GPU : MSI 6950 2 GB twin frozr III
RAM : 2x Corsair 4 GB stick , 1600 mhz, 9-9-9-24 latency, ddr3
MB : p8p67 EVO 3.0
SSD : OCZ revodrive pci-e
HDD : WD 1 TB caviar black 64 mbit sata III
Sound Card : Creative X-fi Titanium HD
Case : Cooler Master HAF X
BD drive
cpu cooler : thermalright silverarrow

MY GPU is running at pcie 2.0 x8 mode since i got SSD pcie / soundcard. Wonder because it doesn't run at x16 could be the cause?!
Yeah I've been with this GPU since september :/. I already once RMA'd the old one since it was broken. Seems like they gave me another broken unit.

Thanks but not thanks. I've reinstalled my windows about 5 times already after this GPU.

What I mean is, I've tried this many times already, done clean installs etc with all the drivers. Nothing changes it

Sounds like a faulty card to me. I would RMA it.

If your needing to downclock your card for it to be stable, I would recommend RMAing it. have you ever trie doverclocking it?
