I have the revised board, and no, LLC will not help your Vdroop/boost out while under load.
EDIT: And do not use CPU-Z to monitor the voltage on this board. Use CPUID HWmonitor to see the full ugly of the vboost while you are stress testing. I'm at 1.47 in bios and can spike at 1.57v while running ITB, fun stuff.

First of all, you have a six core. Six core = more processing power than quad core. This is not a thuban thread.

Second of all, that IS what LLC is by definition. You set it to the level you find equalizes the idle and load voltages, so you can get stable volts. The 1.0 boards had such bad vdroop that they included this feature in the rev 1.1 boards. If it doesnt do that, then what does it do? Changing the LLC manually can change your voltages from say:

Idle: 1.475
Load: 1.46

to

Idle: 1.475
Load: 1.475

Assuming you have all power saving features disabled on the board.

You said AMD, I said it will run on appropriate AMD hardware. If you want to get technical.

I know what LLC does. Does it help with this board? No.

EDIT: Let me make this clearer, LLC is SUPPOSED to take care of that issue, does it, no (on this board). I've tried every single LLC option this board has to offer and cannot keep the voltage from spiking under load. I'll repeat myself. While IBT is running, I can spike from 1.47 to 1.57v. Maybe this is just my board, but LLC options do not help my board.

It's unclear from the title exactly which mobo the OP is using as I can't find a 990FX-UD3 model. I see a 990FXA-UD3 and a 990XA-UD3 model.

There have been numerous BIOS updates on pretty much all of the FX AM3+ mobos to deal with CPU voltage changes based on temp/load. Some folks have had to disable LLC to get stable voltages under OC'ing.

Good call, I should have said AMD quad cores. If you are vboosting like you say, then set your voltage to a lower setting and use LLC to get it to run at 1.47 when under load. Set it at say 1.45, and then put LLC on a higher setting so that it runs at 1.47 when under load. Thats what I had to do to get mine to run exactly at 1.5 under load (set it to 1.475 then use LLC to get it to run at 1.5, rather than just setting the volts to 1.5 to begin with). thumb.gif

Sorry to take away from you OP, maybe this will help with issues in the future though.

What LLC option are you using? Extreme? Like I said, I have seen a whole spike of .10 (1.47 - 1.57v) while doing my IBT testing, so maybe my issue is worse. I'll give some different settings a try again.

EDIT: Played around with them a little more. I think the Regular settings gives me the best results. I only jumped up to 1.52 instead of 1.57 with this setting.
