Hey guys.

Since I have started uni and not gaming much I do not need my rig any more. I am looking at getting a laptop but I can't decide what to get. Im looking at either a HP DV6 with a 2670 and a 7690m or a Dell XPS L702x with a 2670 and a 555m. The Dell has more ram, a bigger hdd, a bigger screen and a better res but then its bigger and costs more ($1450 over $1350 for the HP (These are New Zealand prices so times by .8 to get US)). I want it to do some gaming on (mainly SC2, MW3, LOL) and to use for uni. I defiantly prefer the Dells looks but which one is better or is there something better I should be looking at? I want this to last me a couple of years.

I had an older HP dv6 model a few years ago and had nothing but problems, first the hdd died, then a year later it had an overheating issue that apparently is pretty common the killed the mobo so that was the end of that laptop. I generally avoid HP now, but that was 4-5 years ago, so they may be better now.

A lot of places have quit dealing with the DV series all together. I would recommend looking up the HP DV recall lists.

I have a Dell 1525 laptop that I love. Simple easy features, decent speed, maxed out the 4GB of RAM on it and it does everything I could want it to. Now it plays old games fine, but I don't use it much for gaming soooo... I'm just putting my vote in for Dell based off my experience. I've dealt with several HP's that have had problems with SATA ports and bad wiring. But I think all the major brands will have series of bad units go out.

Just my two cents.. redface.gif

Wouldn't it be better to get a lappy from xoticpc? At those prices, you can get a Sager NP8150.
Correct me if I'm wrong

Yeah someone above me mentioned Lenovo. IBM made some really awesome laptops back in the day and Lenovo seems to really carry on that kind of attention to quality. I've heard nothing but great things about Lenovo. Never had one come by me for repair and never used one for more than a couple days so - check them out too.
