how long will my rig hold out?

Im wondering how long my rig will hold out for gaming? I like FPS games an games like Hawx. Will I be able to get a few years at least?

Currently im running what you see in my sig. Only changes are the following.

Cpu 980x @4.25 backed it down so my temps were better.
ram running sig mem @2133@10-10-10
Gpus 295s are retired an swapped in 2 GTX480s an a third 480 on the way.
psu will be going to a 1250w unit as well.

So how long can I hold out on a new build? Im tired of blowing money on hardware.

Thanks
Moparman.

Hmmm, seems like you are dumping a lot of money on Video Cards, I'd run 2 and keep one for a spare should one of the two die...

Your system will be fine for many years to come, however, if you want to upgrade, then pull one of your video cards out, sell the rig and go to Ivy Bridge once it's out...

I usually sell my computers every 1-3 Years, when I have a buyer...

I usually get 65-95% of what I paid in parts for them...

There is always some fool buyer looking for a great computer...

I've still got an Athlon x2 6000+ rig that up until recently had a GT240 in it (K8 dual core architecture from 2005 mind you). I had no issues gaming on it at 720p.

I still own a Q6600 rig with a GTS250 in it. I can game just fine with it at 1080p, every game I throw at it...with maxed or near maxed settings (usually force DX9 just to be sure my framerate stays high enough with that GTS250).

I'd say if you don't mind sacrificing some settings, you could EASILY get 5 years out of a massive build like that. Heck, my main rig (i5 2500k + 7970 at 1150c), could easily last me 5 or more years, even at 2560x1600. I'd just have to sacrifice some visuals is all.

I'm 100% confident I would be happy with what I have now, in my sig, for many more years; everything I do is still smooth. Every game is destroyed, because I don't find it necessary to have any AA.

Your system will dominate for years, easy. With a 980x, I don't see you having to upgrade till way after Ivy Bridge has matured.

By the way, that Raptor is a champion huh? Mine has gone through more then any hard drive should have to endure, and never skipped a beat once. It's following me till it can't go on, then it's getting framed (seriously).

Yea I love this little old raptor. But im using it just for my few games. Using a 32Gb SSD for os an my Codw@w game. I only picked up the 480s since they were 200ea or less. Only money ill be spending is on a few new Hds. Looking at 2 15,000rpm sas drives since my board has sas. Also might pick up one good 64GB SSD. Then it looks like im done till something dies or I get tired of my setup (happens very often) an trade it off or part it out. Anyway thanks all for your thoughts on its life. I might just grab a 4way Sli board an one more psu an 480 an have one big radioactive nuclear fireball in my computer room.
