XFX is great because they offer the double lifetime warranty or whatever, which is the sort of thing your looking for when your looking at reference cards. Id say go XFX ive never heard terrible things about them

As was mentioned earlier, multi cards Vram does not get added together, so if you have 2gb of Vram on each card, you only have 2gb of Vram in total and NOT 4gb. Battlefield on Ultra settings with just 2xaa sees about 2.6gb of Vram usage on my cards (5760x1080, 64 man servers).

Also on my 580's at this resolution and settings I can see down to 30fps in intense situations but usually 45fps average, however if I drop HBAO (Ambient Occlusion) to SSAO I get about 5-10fps back, if I remove it completely I see 60fps pretty much constantly, so I reckon 1x 7970 should do you for now if you stick to medium settings no more than 2xaa and no more than SSAO (preferably off if frames are more important than the blending of object shadows) and you should be fine. Then if you get a second one whack everything up, sit back and relax gaming bliss biggrin.gif

As for brand, I can recommend Gigabyte, my old 460's were Gigabyte Windforce cards and when one broke within their 3 years warranty, RMA was simple and quick, and the Windforce editions are really super quiet and cool (not far off msi lightening territory) just make sure you can have a PCI slot gap between them.

New egg seems to be sold out at the moment:

so is Amazon :/

Im not sure of any other US stores but just do a google shopping search maybe for a Gigabyte 7950

Yep you hit the nail on the head, but I've heard from someone on this forum who tests GPU's for nVidia that he has seen the up and comming 680 card being able to finally play surround gaming on a single card.

im considering waiting for nvidias new gpus because everything ive read they say that nvidia gpus run much better than amd at high resolutions?
Their flagship 680 with 4GB will obviously be better at higher resolutions but by how much? Who knows. Wait it out if it's not urgent.
