Only modern system I have with less than 8GiB is my HTPC because it's only lightly used for anything other than movies or the occasional game.
Web browsing takes how much memory? 200 mb? 300 mb? Let's just say you have like tons of youtube videos open and somehow, your web browser is taking half a gig of ram. PDF files take how much RAM? Their size is usually 10 mb or less. So they would probably take about 20 mb.
How are you running out of RAM?
Virtualization, okay, that makes sense. What do you mean by running things off RAM drives?

Does BF3 really take that much RAM? I haven't played that game, so I don't know, but wouldn't the game only use your hard drive during the loading screen? Why would it need over 4 gigs of ram? Wouldn't your GPU & CPU bottleneck the FPS before the hard drive/RAM?

It'll run though, but the warnings give me the creeps.
