Ok I enjoyed UT:GO more or even UT2004 oh ok maybe CS 1.6, CSS, CS:CZ oh but wait there's more Q3A, UT3(mods are abundant), BC2 and Q4.
All of which are FPS and all of which I felt I got my monies worth. All of which aren't filled with relentless DLC that costs a lot of money.
Games with DLC I feel I got my monies worth out of.
F.E.A.R, Borderlands(FPS still)
That's a pretty big list of games that felt complete and not thrown together and then put on the shelves to slap the public in the face with stupidity.
I'll admit entirely I enjoy playing BF3. Do I feel down inside that it was worth $60? Absolutely not. $35-$40 at best and If I felt it was worth buying the DLC that should be no more than $10 each pack.
That is the monetary value that I get the feeling of when I play that game, I feel like it was not only rushed, bugged and overpriced, but that there were plenty of other games that I personally feel like money well spent.
games being on different platforms and of different genre means nothing when you are considering the overall quality of the product, its all about the game being complete, immersive and feel like its all there from the start. Think about back in the day when you had a NES,S-NES or any other console or handheld that could not connect to the internet. If a game came out with bugs and glitches which games still did, you couldn't just hop on the ol internet and google the patch. Games back then HAD to be all there or it did not sell.
I think I am pointing out a valid point be it you may be of the younger generation(Its not like I know how old you are) but regardless my point is valid and I'm sure a lot of people would agree with me on this. Like I said I like to play BF3 doesn't mean I have to feel like it was money well spent.

I would have to agree. BF3 is the most buggy AAA fps i've ever played. It plays much more like a game that releases at $20-$30 than a $60 AAA title.

I'd love to see a list of what you guys propose to be BUGS rather than imbalances/things some people in the community PREFER a different way. For instance, killing with the MAV is not really a bug.

It wasn't practically day one. tongue.gif The DLC came a little less than two months after Battlefield 3 launched. The fact people got it free from preordering is called incentive. It made more people preorder the game so they could get the extra content. Don't say it should have been in the game in the first place because that's just saying every expansion should have been every one of the original games ever.

I understand that you might have a problem with snipers using MAV to get on top of buildings, but I consider that as a valid strategy.

Whatever. Whoever said BF3 is the best MP game out in 'quite some time' is clearly mistaken. It's not that 'great'. It's good, but not 'great'.

Obviously everyone has an opinion on the topic so take it how you will.

Using BF2 as a pillar to hold up BF3 by stating how BF2 had all these bugs and so forth and how the game wasn't patched for a long time, etc etc; that does nothing to help what BF3 should have been on release day. You could say the same for BF2. I didn't play BF2. I played BF1942.

So anyways - the bottom line of BF3 is this, not matter how you want to look at it:

Broken game on release due to several issues, including no VOIP outside of Battlelog and glitches that should have been eradicated during beta testing. And other numerous issues related to the game itself.

Many people would agree with that person, just like many people would agree with you. Whether a game is good or not is purely subjective. However, basing the quality on the "fact" the game is "broken" is kinda bull. It's not broken. It works perfectly for a lot of people. It would be impossible for any developer to have released a game like Battlefield 3 without any bugs. It's impossible to prepare for the thousands of different configurations of PCs all over the world. There's always going to be bugs that come up even months after release (like the MAV exploit) that weren't apparent at first. All the developers can do is patch them as soon as possible, which DICE did (the upcoming patch is NOT primarily for bugs, but a long list of tweaks to change the game based on player feedback).

Bringing up Battlefield 2 is very relevant because a lot of people who complain about Battlefield 3 being broken praise Battlefield 2 like it's better than sex. Battlefield 1942 probably had its fair share of bugs at launch as well (although I don't know for sure since I didn't get to play right at launch, still had a few bad bugs for a long time while I played it).

Another things that's not being taken into consideration is that there has never been a game done at this scale for the Frostbite engine. There's so many factors that need to be taken into consideration that aren't there for other games. Yet it's still runs great for the majority of the community. I'd say they did a pretty impressive job.

Also, @nikon, the reason games long ago didn't have that many bugs was because they were not nearly as complicated as they are now. There's 12 year olds on newgrounds developing games of the same quality as NES and SNES games. Guess what, though? SNES and NES games STILL had bugs. The difference is that they couldn't fix them (or it was cost a lot more to fix them). Games are infinitely more complicated now. I would LOVE to see you even try to develop a video game that's up to AAA standards today. smile.gif
