i7 2600k Build

Thread Starter
I know Ivy Bridge is around the corner and projected toward summer time. I was running a 1st gen i7 960 for two years. I held off sandy bridge too long now while all the bugs have been worked out. I have purchased all new hardware besides a few items:

CPU- i7 2600K
MOBO- Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P
RAM- Corsair Veng 16GB 2 x 8GB
SSD- Corsair Force Series 3 240GB Sata III
GPU- XFX HD 7970 Double D
PSU- Corsair AX850
Case- Corsair 650D
Cooling- H70 (out of current rig until I can build custom loop)

Will be posting some pics of the build. Hopefully my cpu will hit 5GHz underwater. Since this is my first SB CPU overclocking I will be looking around for a guide or if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Going all SSD I see!! I would probably suggest getting an hdd as well (for more than 240GB)

I like though, I'm personally going to be trying out the H80 in a few weeks on my new build.

I see you are going pretty heavy on GPU, I would personally spend more on a motherboard, but it all depends on what you are going to do with it.

Good luck!

and if I may, I would suggest/hope you plan to do some Folding@home on the rig! (Do it for the great cause!)

I think Ivy is less than a month away, or real close to a month, but your build looks nice!

It keeps getting pushed back and probably won't come out until June. The purchases have already been made so I doubt he'll go Ivy in a few months. But hey that would rock! drum.gif (if you've got the money)

Yeah they are in shipping already. I have other hdd that I use for other files and media in a raid 1 setup. I mainly play pc games but also free lance some graphic work here and there for some extra cash using 3D Studio Max.

On a side note, I also compile some themes for the Galaxy Nexus, which isn't graphic intensive but is cpu dependent.

I am going to be (hopefully) overclocking the 2600k to 5GHz. I have heard that people have been running vcore for a year now at 1.52v.....That seems a little high but if it is stable and doesn't degrade the chip that much I don't see why not while keeping temps low on water. Can anyone confirm the 1.52v for extended period of time for 24/7 use?
