Gigabyte 7970 OC Windforce Performance state problem

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but i believe a fault driver is at fault:

I start up my computer, use a 3d application like BF3 on stock clocks from gigabyte (1000, 1375) and then after i exit and try and use anything else like a benchmark or even BF3 again it goes to a lower performance state (500mhz graphics clock) and there is nothing i can do to make it go up again apart from restarting the computer, trying to overclock only increases the top performance state, and the card gets stuck in a lower performance state.

Anyone else had a similar issue?

I had similar problem, has something to do with driver and/or afterburner. Try uninstalling both then roll back your driver and install latest afterburner beta

You using dual monitors? I also have this issue with my 7970 that jumps from 355mhz (apparently the minimal p state in dual monitor mode) to 3d stock clocks. The 500mhz only happens to me after a game and you'll need to reapply a new overclock to override it. (if your 3d profile is set to an overclock of 1000mhz, you'll need to do an overclock of 1001 or greater to get out of the 500mhz bug).

And yeah, its the driver fault. AMD is still lacking in that department.

Overclocking alters the top performance state, i get stuck in a lower performance state that i cant get out of unless i reboot.

Running with 1 monitor 1600 x 900

I might try rolling back the driver, as ive already uninstalled afterburner (no success) What driver version would you suggest?

I play music through YouTube when I play my games and after a while the core would jump down to 500 so I figured it had something to do with ccc and afterburner, so I just uninstalled ccc and that seemed to fix the problem.
