Alright....i hate to do it but i feel extremely compelled to switch to the blue side....so heres what i have in mind

this will be reusing parts from my current build that carry over, so ill just include the mobo, proccy, and RAM

CPU: 2500k http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0354589 $180!! biggrin.gif

Mobo: Asrock Extreme3 Gen3 http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0384988

Ram: temporarily ill run my Hyper X Blu

cooler: Hyper 212+ w/ 2 blademasters

The cost of the motherboard and CPU is around 255 because for some reason when everything is in my cart the motherboard is only 75. This may be an error so ill just assume the upgrade will cost me around 300

how is this for a first dive into intel?

also, what sort of overclocking can i expect with the mobo and cooler?

You're seeing the pricing because Microcenter has where you get $50 off any Z68 / P67 motherboard with the purchase of a 2500k, those look like a pretty decent combo, should do you well thumb.gif

Very good combo. The Ext3 board is a decent one for the price, and you 4.8~5GHz should be easily done.
