If the budget is huge, then I would not invest in old(er) technology. There are three options:

- Get an AM2 rig. Although performance will not exceed that of 939 right away, at least you'll be ready for the new AMD bad boys when they come out.
- Wait for AMD's next move; I think the next stuff should be coming in early 2007 (correct me AMD boys)
- Move to the Intel platform if you can't wait, since Core 2 Duo currently wipes the floor with anything AMD has to offer right now.

not all cards support DX10 ? then i will wait with getting a new GFX.

Well the DX10 technology is fairly imminent (Chrismas ive heard)

Saying that though current cards perform very well and there are few games that cannot run at full detail on these cards.

DX10 also requires Vista to run I have heard. Im sure the more informed guys will be able to advise on this matter

We are all waiting for these imminent DX10 cards

well am2 is a mix bag of crap at the moment, no one knows what it will and wont support in the future , so its a gamble at best really.

C2D is known and loved at the moment by all, but for future upgrade's i doubt 775 will stay around much longer.

Oh and you only need to wait till around november for dx10 cards to appear from nvidia, ati will release around Q1/Q2 2007

Not all cards?

And this moment NO cards support DX10!

The first generation DX10 cards will be out in November (so I heard), but those will be high-end, high-power, high-heat, high-money cards, and possibly filled with bugs (plus, Vista won't be out until January at the earliest, so no advantage of DX10 yet). I'd wait a good while for DX10 cards (at least second generation, and SP1 for Vista - I'd say half a year or so).

Any thoughts on the platform? Tell us if Core 2 Duo is an option, or that the mere mentioning of Intel gives you allergic reactions...

oh quit the bull**** i'm not here to compete one another... why is everybody competing that fight... that is something for the brands but not for the commercial users..... jezus and i don't have the money to get the best there is on the market right now.... if someone has a conroe with 256 MB DDR and i have an 64B 3200+ with 2 GB ddr then mine should run better.. get the point the thing THAT is IMPORTANT is that your rig is perfoming good enough for the games there out now and coming... ffs does everybody want that mclaren F1 cause the ferrari enzo isn't better ?
