Z68 motherboard owners......Please help me......I can't get a VGA Card to work at on these boards.

II'm building multiple workstations and 'm having the exact same problem with then all. I started with two ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 boards and thought they were defective and returned them and got two Asus P8Z68 V/Gen3 boards but am having the exact same problem. I can't get a video signal to the monitor while using a VGA card. If i have the VGA card installed in the Z68 boards then i just get black screen I can't see the card in bios or windows. While i had the ASRock boards i used onboard video and installed windows 7 and installed the AMD CCC drivers to see if it worked in windows but it wouldn't display video. The Device manager in windows would recognize the VGA card as the correct card and said it was working properly but i can't get video to the monitor. If I take the VGA card out and then plug into onboard vidoe then it works fine. I need help. The VGA card works in the P67 boards but not Z68.

Things i've tried:

Cleaning contracts on VGA cards.
Updated Bios on Z68 boards
Tried a different VGA card in Z68 boards
Tried VGA card in P67 Boards (works fine)
Tried Clearing CMOS.
Tried different Power Supply but same model
Tried different Ram but same model.
Tried different CPU but same model
I've tried different monitor
I've tried different cables and adapters.

I have to be missing something.

You check that the output is via GPU in the bios? I think there's an option like that there somewhere.

They are workstation cards. Two are AMD Firepro V7900's and the other is a Nvidia Quardo 600. They work perfectly in any other system but a system using a Z68 board. The AMD Firepro v7900's only come with 4 Display Ports and i've tried them all.

I am not sure if you changed the settings in the motherboard's bios.

You will have to change two things.

1) Make sure you either disable onboard vga or use it if available.

2) Next make sure your primary display is coming from your PCI-E slot. My board has the option to even choose the slot. Anyways make sure you are loading graphics off of the PCI-e slot and check.

Hope it helps

Yeah they do but that is only if you are working thru vga drivers first and then enable lucid to mix gpus to achieve some boost.

i don't have an option to disable on board vga just to use pcie first. I've already done that and nothing. It bios detects the vga card and disables onboard but i can get video out of it. if i take out the vga card then onboard works while having primary display set to use pcie

If you try to connect the card and turn computer on. and no output from vga , and you do get out put from onboard means., that the onboard is not disabled. or motherboard is not detecting the card.
