Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 7970 - Worth it?

Thread Starter
I am thinking about ordering 2 of these for my cards.

I plan on staying air cooled as it's just a cheaper source of cooling. My cards tend to run 70-80C on load. Top runs a little hotter obviously.

I have a Sapphire and XFX 7950 reference cards with the 1 fan cooler. The fans run really loud on load. I read a review on these and they drop load temps from 10-16C. Is it really worth it? 2 of these with shipping would be $200.

I just need some justification before I hit submit on the order.

Qieter, decreased temps and both cards will match.

But in the end, is the money well spent? GO!

Ok. You guys failed me... actually I failed me impulse buys.., I went a head and purchased them.

I couldn't see any reason not to after sitting here thinking about it. In the tests I am sure that temp drop is also on a stock profile. Changing the fan profile I could probably look at some nice temps and a decent O/C on the cards.

I guess I will be getting them next week. FrozenCPU had them. At first the only places I found them were shipping from Hong Kong way too long.

Anyways, I will put them up when I get them and test them out and post results in thread.

for a little more you could have had a full blown water loop which would have decreased sound and temps way more, but if you were wantign to stay with air then these will be great. will be quieter than your stock cooler and will reduce temps

* also take some time and fill in your product specs so we know what your working with.

A full water loop for $200? I got quoted between 5-600$ for all the rights parts to cool the CPU/2 cards.

I don't know enough about water cooling to know what parts to get for a full build. So looking through the market would be a nightmare for me. I've always wanted to do a water build though.

I actually canceled my order. Looking at the profiles, I just don't think I will be comfortable with the fit.

Of course they charged me a 5% cancellation fee... always got to make money one way or another I guess.

Too bad because it's great cooler, it lowered my 7970 temps by almost 20c under load, best choice before WC.
