[Fud] Kepler 256-bit, faster in DX11 games than 7970 - Page 2

So the GTX 680 is smaller, roughly the same speed, probably requires less power, and is likely to be much cheaper than the 7970.

Way to go NVIDIA. I might buy two depending on power consumption.

According to many sources the card will be around $350. That would put this card at a much better buy than anything ATI has on the market. What are you seeing that i'm not?

This is a score for NVIDIA if they launch at the prices rumored. A big score. It renders the 7950 and 7970 terrible buys unless ATI lowers their prices. Equal, and sometimes better, performance for nearly half the price.

If it is releasing at $350 that means that it will be the same performance as the 7870 overall.

The only things is will be fast at.... well just Google Nvidia twimtbp .

Nvidia goes way out of it's way to make sure that games only run really well on their hardware.

So far the only benchmarks I've seen are calculated off the specs, I am assuming that most of these other sites are now translating those numbers in to gaming performance.

But I definitely would love to see some competition. I have yet to purchase a 7970 because I was waiting on the 6 GB model, or at least one with 3 or more display ports.

And info on if a single 680 will support 3 or more monitors? Or will 2 or more cards still be required?

Why does that matter? If it's launches at the rumored $350, that's nearly half the price of the 7970. If it's even close to 7970 performance.. it's a way better buy.

I think the people hoping for it to destroy the 7970, for half the price, were expecting way too much.

If it outclasses Tahiti, don't expect $350. I'd be absolutely shocked if that happened. It'll probably fall in between the 7950/70 in most cases, and it will be priced to match them.

If the 680 will really trade blows with the 7970 for $350, i'll definitely be picking up another rad and dumping my 460 SLI setup for a single 680 and a gpu block (when they are available). Mix in a new ivy bridge cpu and it might be the most painless upgrade ever.

Does that mean that a 7870 is a way better buy? Because it is exactly what you just described. We've got benchmarks and everything for that card.
