AMD releases new Video Card...

NVIDIA responds with... "Kepler is Unbeatable"....

The Drama continues... biggrin.gif

And I never have issues with drivers on either companies cards. If that's not the most exagerated complaint in all of computer hardware I don't know what else is. Popped in Mass Effect 3 on release day and played with 4XSSAA/1080p/locked 60 FPS right out of the box a couple days ago. Several hours in and no issues.

Batman? Dragon Age II? D&D Online? Dirt 3? Medal of Honor? World of Warcraft? LOTR?

RPGs are extremelly popular still, and D&D Online is about to take off with "Neverwinter", just FYI..

I think your statements are a bit blind mate..

Sadly though, NVIDIA, like AMD is trying to stave off a bigger opponent, (AMD vs Intel) / (NVIDIA vs AMD), which clearly AMD has been kicking the hell out of NVIDIA for quite some time now, I'm not expecting record breaking changes here...

Indeed, it would not be in the interest of ANY MFG to overcome their opponent significantly, why?

Well, let's just say it's good for the pocket book if everyone plays nice and fair...

AMD & NVIDIA will feed these fools a slight bump in performance $100 at a time.. lulz!

I see the tech industry as a bunch of rich bastards sitting down to play poker with the public, they already rigged the deck, they already have their hands, and when you sit down to play, they already have the rules set... They play a card on you one at a time, and the public says "Wow, that's awesome", and they say:

"Thanks, that will be $565 + Tax"

And of course the clueless consumers go...

"MOAR!"

I think all those DX11 games you mentioned are DX11 in name only. In other words none of them are demanding at all so it really doesn't matter. In fact I can think of tons of DX9 games that look way better and are way more demanding hardware wise then all of them.

I mean seriously most cards run Dirt 3 well over 100 FPS maxxed out. You get to a point where the performance increases don't matter. Hell even in Crysis 2, metro and BF3 the DX11 stuff is mostly superficial and at a glance it's hard to tell the difference.

It's *really* sad but DX11 has not taken off at all if we are being honest.

A lot of new games use verly little Dx11 and mostly use DX10 and some 9. The fact that there is a little in there they can brandish that its DX 11.

$350 for a card that performs like the 7970?
What are people putting in their Cheerio's now at days? Why would NV sell 550 dollars worth of card for 350? Also needing to push the 580 below $280.

If the performs like the 7970, you can bet it's going to be $450 bare minimum, and that would be a feat.

.

Arkham City uses plenty of DX11 features, so you can be quiet now. Full tessellation and HBAO, etc. It makes full use of my 570, let me tell you.

Yeah I don't agree. Dx9 and Dx11 Arkham City look very similar. Brighter lights and some bumpy objects are about the only difference as you said. If the game was truly built from the ground up using DX11 it would be stunning no doubt but we won't be seeing games like that till 720 and PS4 arrive and it's financially responsible to do it.

Yea so this releases and next month we get Tenerife XT so we can watch NVidia dig themselves out of a hole again. It has kinda been over for NVidia since AMD pulled out the price/performance strategy back in the HD 4870/ GTX 280 days. And considering this thing is *10%* faster than a 7970, a mild overclock should overcome that, granted we don't know how Kepler OCs but knowing NVidia I doubt it will get an easy 200-300mhz bump on air like the 7970s unless they're being REALLY conservative with that *rumored*705/1410 mhz clock setup.
