Just bought a HP ZR30w!!! - Page 9

Sorry to bump up this thread but I am planning on purchasing a HP ZR30w and like some input. Does this monitor use the same panel as the HP U27/U30? I'm asking because I had a chance to test out the U2711 and did not not the anti-glare coating. It made everything sparkle.

Also, does HP ever do online sales? I remember seeing U2711s for as low as $800.

Hows the warranty for HP regarding dead pixels? I would like a perfect display.

if you're shooting in the dark ie buying a brand new never used monitor, get a warranty. if you can get one used guaranteed with no dead pixels go as low as you can.
some ppl say one or 2 dead pixels on such a large panel isnt a problem but in my opinion if you're gonna spend that much i think the panel should be flawless.
i havent yet heard of any monitor can shipped perfect, then developed dead pixels so 90 day warranties would be fine.

Yes, when I first got mine it had 1-2 stuck pixels. Called up, and the next morning I had a replacement on my doorstep.

THIS. You get two full years of this when you buy an HP monitor (I assume when you get a replacement it's another two years or from the time you owned the first one?) That's the main reason I got one. I've wondered a lot about what people do with these Korean ebay monitors if they die or something after a few months?

also hp is a much larger corporation than dell so the way they handle their warranty is probably better than dells.

but that's an assumption lol. i, personally, have never had any issues with dell or hp warranties.

HP makes pretty good monitors but I was looking at 27" and was turned off by the AG coating. We have a client that has a 24" LCD sitting unused in the server room because the coating was so bad.

i've said it many times and i'll say it again. make sure you install the monitor drivers (if they come with them) to calibrate itself with the graphics card. if you just plug the monitor and go, they won't show right. i change my gpu quite often from 6870 to 6970 and don't like to reinstall the gpu drivers and its not a problem with my other monitors but the zr30w won't show right compared to the other monitors.

That client has glass a wall of glass behind them. Its not a driver issue it looks really good in the server room where there are no windows. Most likely it would look good at home with 90% solar screen and large bannana plant blocking the window but did not want to take the chance.
