I'm getting read to order some red smooth leds in the coming week, but I have a quick question about getting them powered. I have an old case fan whose lead has 3 wires: red, white and black. Which ones would I solder to the positive and negative on the led strip? The red and the black I take it? What's the white lead then....

I am not positive on colors but red is your + black is your - and white would probably be the sense wire for the fan itself. thumb.gif

take the sticker off the back of the fan and you can see where the wires attach to the fan. There should be some + and - markings. Match them to what's on the leds.

most fans are red for + and black for -, but not all are the same. best to check your fan.
