Thread Starter
Hi all i would like to update my computer , i have actually one intel dual core e2140 OC at 2.2 GHZ , but i need more performance to play easily at GTA IV . But i dont would like to risk to broke my CPU by OC more than 2.2 GHZ ...
I have :
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L
MSI GTX 295
3 GO of RAM OC at 15%
Intel E2140 OC at 2.2 GHZ (40%)
My ventirad is one EOM
Power supply is one lepa 700 W

I Would like :
New Case
New ventirad
Maybe 2 RAM (2x2GO)
CPU

But i don't know where i can find one good CPU ...

Thank you

Trust me when I say you're better off to buy a cheap AMD quad core *not BD* (by that I mean get a Thuban based chip, not an "FX") and cheap mobo than it is to just buy a 775 quad core. Better performance, less money.

Unless you're willing to buy on the used market (I'll never purchase used hardware - that's just me, you may be different) - then you might get a deal from someone upgrading to a Sandy/Ivy system.

You can't find a Q6600 on Ebay? They're all over for $75, some for much less.

Try checking the overclock.net marketplace here in the forums. I see a lot of pretty good deals on older CPUs here. Also eBay is a pretty good bet for you too.

I agree with this.

Your board is G41 which is about the worst 775 overclocking chipset there is.

Anything beyond/less than that will be a complete waste of your time. Unless beyond means a platform jump.
