It has NOTHING to do with AMD being negligent, it has everything to do with Nvidia intentionally going out of their way to write code that hinders AMD cards. The code didn't just come that way, they had to write extra code to get it to make AMD cards look bad. Is it really that hard to understand?

BACK ON TOPIC:

Also, I can't WAIT to see these new Nvidia cards in action! I've got a sneaking suspicion that they will be massive power hogs just like the 400 series, why else do this dynamic clocking stuff? Oh well, as long as they are as beast as they seem I'm sure many won't mind the sky high power draw!

Are you really that daft? Nvidia "gives them code" which literally disables AMD cards from looking good, and you don't see a problem with that? Seriously, you're that much of a fan boi? AMD should have to look over every line of code in every game so they can attempt to undo all of the under handed crap Nvidia has done?
Pull your head out of your butt.

Just because someone doesn't see eye to eye with you in AMD's favor doesn't make them an Nvidia fanboy. What does that say about yourself with your derogatory comments if you think about it?

Ragin has owned 590, 6990, and now 7970 GPU's all in the last year and currently using and AMD card. His conclusions on which he prefers is based on his extensive trials and benching / testing of both companies. If anything he's less of a fanboy. More than I can say of many others on this site.

The argument / debate over AMD's & Nvidia's practices is more of a point of view and opinions which we should respect and as previously stated we are getting off topic to this thread. We don't have to agree with each other or see eye to eye and debate is fine without the name calling.

On a side note: Many of the Kepler threads are getting locked because of this and I'm finding it frustrating because some of us are actually wanting to discuss Kepler without the bias hate that keeps surfacing from AMD owners who come to them. I find it disturbing on the quality of AMD members because when AMD was releasing the 7000 line those threads stayed civil and were not locked by moderators.

Is it too much to ask that the discussions stay civil with each other without going against TOS rules of OCN and at least one thread be left alone? Can we get the same consideration? If one isn't happy or jealous of Kepler finally being released and the specs being "rumored or not" please don't post if all one is going to do is start another flame war? We'd like at least one thread we can talk about it.

Coming from a long line of ATI since 3DFX went out of business myself this last year, I'm trying Nvidia for the first time. I've been free of driver & game issues and don't think I won't be going back. I did give another chance and looked into AMD's HD3D option again when the 7970 released, extensively doing my homework, but found nothing has changed in that area from last years 6000 series cards and let's just say 3D vision is not AMD's forte. They'd be best to just remove that feature all together. Would this preference of 3D make me a fanboy as well?

Well having the "opinion" that it's somehow AMD who is to blame for Nvidia supplying code whose sole purpose is to sabotage AMD's cards, makes someone look like a raging fanboi or outright dimwitted.

Correction, Nvidia gives them code that enables AA on Nvidia cards where there was no AA to begin with because apparently Eidos are lazy. AMD did not do the same. It's not like the game had AA that worked with AMD cards and Nvidia disabled it. The game had NO AA and Nvidia provided it for Nvidia cards. Does it work with non-Nvidia cards when a vendor check is disabled? Sure, but it was Nvidia's code specifically meant to provide AA to their cards. Why is it expected that Nvidia provide code to enable AA on AMD/ATI cards? They did the legwork and they should reap the rewards. Perhaps AMD can get off their laurels and provide some AA code next time(they were asked to) instead of waiting for Nvidia to do it for them then complain that it's not enabled on their cards. If it is standard dx coding then surely AMD can provide it easily or even better yet the game developer does it themselves and we avoid the whole mess.

Stop bickering about unimportant ****. "Nvidia can't offer eyefinity-uber-4D-100000%-enhanced-ridiculosity, and they're to blame for being in a business and making financial decisions". Seriously dude shut up and sit down. does it really matter which brand you prefer? Do you really think people aren't going to buy it? The fact is people like you are wishing it is a flop so you feel better about yourself for liking the other side. How arrogant and narrow minded can you be? And I hate when people act like Nvidia is perfect. OF COURSE THEY AREN'T. AMD and Nvidia are businesses, not your friends. They will charge the most they can for a product to get optimal sales; they both will continue naming their cards however they feel will make people think they're getting the best; and they will keep adding incentives like physx or more ram/overclockability to win your money. That's all there is. Choose the one that is best suited for your needs and give advice from personal experience, not criticism from theoretical data about something that isn't released yet. Grow up.

You obviously have absolutely no context for my post. I hope that Nvidia flops? Where did I say that? I've been using Nvidia since I purchased my first graphics card upgrade of a Ti-4200. Of course businesses aren't your friends, who said that? Everybody knows that they are going to do whatever they can to make the most money, herp derp. If you had actually read any of my posts you would know that I was referring to business practices that are bad for the consumers, not good. Would you think it's ok for AMD to murder Nvidia's engineers? No? Well then quit being retarded and making broad statements devoid of all meaning. Read the thread, and reply something intelligible. Criticism from theoretical data about something that isn't released yet? Who the hell are you even talking to?

First off, I was referring to what you've been saying. You imply that one company is to blame for taking advantage of opportunities to have better graphics options (aka AA) with their cards. There's nothing immoral or shady about that. I'm simply stating that they are out to make profits through whatever means they can. And my statements weren't only aimed at you. I apologize if it came across like that. I was referring to everyone as a collective whole who wants to argue nvidia vs. amd. There's no point in who's doing what, when in the end both companies are taking advantage of their own contingent profit margins. What's important here isn't who likes which brand for what reasons, but rather which card fits what need the best?

For the record, I'm just as sick of hearing Nvidia fanboys bash the 7970. It's a good card. Overpriced? Uh yeah aren't they all?

This... but these people would rather weave some fairytales.

Pretty good if true, only 5% behind 7970 and not even nVidias top model!
