3850 and the 4870 both held best price/performance ratios over Nvidia's cards.

the 8800gt was launched earlier than the 3870, had a lower msrp, and performed better. Not even gonna go into the 2900XT. Granted the 4870 was excellent.

I agree with AMD usually winning price/performance, but you did not specify "best price/performance", which changes rather quickly to be honest. You in fact said the only nvidia card with a good price/performance ratio was the gtx460. and your last statement about people not buying nvidia for "value" is also questionable to say the least. you really think just because the gtx580 (for example) costs around $500, that the people who buy them do not get or expect to get a good value out of the card? not trying to argue here, just pointing out some untrue, potentially inflammatory statements which are better left unsaid.

I don't know about that GTX 670Ti garbage.
I think the new GTX 680 will be the new single GPU king, but Nvidia wont swing hard until their GTX 7XX series.

I think that's what everyone was expecting in place of the GTX 680, people need to realize that the GTX 780 (GK110) is the bad boy with specs (512-bit memory bus) like a king.

You should choose your words more carefully as your ignorant statements are inflammatory and if I didn't know better your asking to be flamed, I remember the Nvidia GTX 580 having far better tessellation performance vs AMD's 6870 at that time.

Yep. I bought a 580 so I could run the M.C. Escher benchmark faster. It's all about those numbers, man.

@Systemlord: gtx580 came out as the top end solution for $500-$750 (depending on model), and hasn't dropped much.
the 6870 came out as the mid-range solution at $240, with fast and huge price drops. was well under $200 ~4 months from release and has stayed that way until now. the two are not and were never meant to be comparable in any way.

I understand that the 6870 was mid-range while the GTX580 was high-end, but at the time AMD's best GPU was the 6870 and this card was the only thing to compare the GTX580 with between both companies. Forget about prices as I was only refering to pure performance. I consider the 7970 and Kepler GTX670 and GTX680 to be mid-range cards, that will be an even comparison.

Hey guys, quit getting your panties in a bunch. By value I meant price to performance ratio in gaming. Im sure people have all kinds of other reasons to buy expensive top end Nvidia cards.
