New Desk Build --- Update in Post One --- 12/9/12

Update:

Pictures will be far better than anything I can say...

Can anyone guess what the frame on the left is going to be for? The frame has a 19 1/8" opening.

Finally starting my desk build that I have been wanting to do for the last year. Its not as flashy as many on here but it will be very functional. My Dad and I built a 25x20 ft shop that has about every woodworking tool we need for anything. So I have a lot to work with to get this done.

We have started with the top. I want a heavy top so it is 1.5" thick and made out of particle board. Over this I used formica for the top and oak for the trim. The side trim pieces are on but I have taken a new picture yet.

Here are the plans for the file cabinet and bookcase.

Let me know what you guys think. This will probably take another month or so to finish.

I will also be drilling four 3" holes in the top, 1 on each side and two in the middle about 12-18" apart.

Ordered the following:

Cant wait till this desk is finished! Lots and lots of room.

I have been playing around with flush mounting a mouse pad. Its actually pretty simple to do, took a random board we have around and tested out the idea. I think Ill like it. I need to find the mousepad I want to use prior to doing the final cut.
