Why is everyone assuming that 3 x GTX 580 in the Samaritan demo is 3 times the power of one GTX 580? Unless anyone has evidence then it's more reasonable to assume much less scaling which would make a single kepler much more possible especially when you consider how much of a performance hit MSAA causes in a DX11 game. I came to this thread expecting to have to explain people to take this with a grain of salt but it appears the opposite has been forced from me.

this could just simply imply that software and driver specific tailored optimization might be worth more than just brute force power.
of course, that's also me being optimistic for this card in question being the gk104.

What's wrong with FXAA? Gah...I thought it was confusing with MSAA and QSAA and ZSAA (jk) what is the difference?

And yeah....3 GTX580s in SLI isn't 3x the power of a single GTX580 except in consumption.

Gah...all this nvidia talk has me worried that these cards aren't going to be good since this is sounding like...you know what I'll not mention the CPU codename that creates flame wars.

The scaling I have seen.

1x 580 = 100%

2x 580s = ~180%

3x 580s = ~200-230%

4x 580s = ~100-300% // Negative quad-gpu scaling can show up.

Besides, the GK104 is looking (Based off of Rumors) software/hardware specific and non-General purpose. That kind of crazy coming from nVidia but not impossible.

They did such a leap with G80 after the 7900. It's not out of the realms of possibility they did it again.

Korrrhonen (SF3D) has already confirmed from a reliable source that GK100/110 is going to be a G80 kind of revolution.

Looks like the March 12th date just got some more substance? I don't buy that it's running identical settings/performance as 3x GTX 580 SLI, though.

It's a combination of them optimizing the code and the improved single card performance most likely. I'm sure all the work being done on Unreal right now (since the graphics are phenomenal) are going into optimization to make all that pretty more accessible.
