Wonder how these Asus WS (as in WorkStation) motherboards would do in constant 24/7 load headscratch.gif

They're a bit expensive for sure and big talk on the product pages about how reliable they are.
Like the P8Z77 WS for example:
"ASUS Workstation Series motherboards also bring you ultimate reliability and quality through our 24x24 initiative, which means 24-hour non-stop operation and a 24-month life cycle supply guarantee so you don´t change computers so often.Instead, let the ASUS Workstation Series improve the quality of your work and life."
And the socket 1366 WS boards had VRM working guarantee of 5000hours at 105*C and 500000hours at 65*C
That's a big promise, I think other parts on those mb's would fail before the vrm's lolol
Interesting MB series nevertheless.

Depending a bit on my financial situation late summer/early fall I'm either going with:
a) 3770K + 16Gb ram + P8Z77 ATX size MB to my main rig, 2500K + M4GZ + current 8Gigs to upgrade my htpc to. Perhaps a bigger psu to my main rig also.
b) 3770K to my main rig, 2500K + H61 + cheapest 2x4gb sticks of ddr3 to upgrade my htpc to.
c) Nothing changes on main rig, i3 2120/or IB equilevant + H61 + cheapest 2x4gb sticks of ddr3 to upgrade my htpc to.
d) Nothing changes on main rig, nothing changes on htpc and I'll keep getting frustrated with how slow this thing is

I'd prefer A but:

I have a few upgrades planned for the next BGB... well, they were already planned for my general pc use but I'm sure it will increase my Boinc output. going to try to go tri-SLi on my 580 classy ultra, and by the end of the week I should have all the stuff to set up my custom loop. 1 480mm rad at the top, 1 360mm rad on the read of the case, 1 240mm rad in the front panel. should be plenty of cooling for the cpu and 3 gpu's. Ohh did I mention that I'm working on a custom plate for the top rad to set in so when I'm planning on really pushing my system for benches I can place ice in the panel to chill the rad from the outside cooling the fluid quicker. devil.gif

Cant wait to see how cool I can get the gpu's and then OC the **** outta 'em and crunch some dirt on all 3. biggrin.gif

LMAO same here biggrin.gif
I always try to keep my sandy below 65°C on the hottest core when crunching, which aint even hard though lol.
Also I've made the decision to stay at the 4500mhz/1. 300v oc for the sandy so I wont get degradation, which is unlikely but still. I don't want this chip to die on me biggrin.gif

So that's where your avatar comes from! Explains everything. You are going to fit right in at OCN... tongue.gif

Seriously though, good luck with the surgery.

Sorry it took so long to respond guys, I was out of town for my little sisters bday.

It is a reconstructive eardrum surgery. the technical name is a tympanoplasty if you want to look it up. They basically put a micro skin graft over a hole in my eardrum. Super fun! wink.gif

Surgery at 530 am tom morning. Just checkin OCN and getting my rig going on BOINC again. Its nice to be home

Edit* POEM@home will not load new tasks, any helpful ideas?
