CPU usage constant 26%

Thread Starter
I just got my sig built recently and just noticed that my cpu constantly hovers around 26% so I restarted my computer and it seemed fine but after 3 minutes went back up and stood so I looked at my processes and before it went to 26% and only system idle was using the cpu. Then when I look again after its always a certain process that uses 24 in the cpu column (see photo) too scared to kill anything because I am brand new to this so I don't wanna screw anything up.

That's Intel Rapid storage Technology (RST). What are you using for hard drives/ssd in your system? If you want, you can run msconfig.exe (Windows+R, type msconfig.exe) and click over to the services tab, disable Rapid Storage Tech. Then go to the next tab over, startup, and uncheck IAStorIcon. See if everything runs fine then

This seems odd. I've had many more issues with netgear proprietary PCI wifi card drivers that use a constant 25% of my CPU. I simply end the process tree and use the internal Windows drivers. The other odd thing is I use intel smart response with RST and I have no CPU issues what so ever. Is it possible that you selected an improper drive to accelerate or are using an old version of intel SRT?

could have been an outdated drive I downloaded all the drives for the gpu, bios, and other things but not for RST
