Is my gpu getting bottlenecked by my cpu - Page 2

One at a time, Run Uningine at stock settings, 3DMark11 only gives you Performance preset so run that and check if either benchmark shows artifacts, or if they just crash to desktop.

Problem
guys my problem is that i m not able games like Mass effect 2,batman 2 ,the elder scroll skyrim 5,
even at low graphics,i m only interest in the game performance and not graphics(medium).whenever i play these games my cpu temperature 35 deg and gpu temp around 70 deg and screen hangs for sometime till temp comes to normal, gpu temps shoots up and same thing happens and most of the time game crashes . im facing this problem with most of the latest games 2011,except Mass effect 2 which i was able to play only for 5minutes and crysis 2 for 5minutes without interruption
what should i do

What programs do you use to monitor your CPU and GPU? I also second on running Prime95 on blend, and stress testing the GPU. I would test the independently and if it pass's then I would run prime and furmark or something to stress both at the same time.

Some programs like EVGA's persision can cause a CTD while gaming. There are other's that can cause it too.

Google them:) they are almost mandatory on here. EVGA persision is like MSI afterburn. Its a program used to control GPU's. EVGA's program is known to not play well with game's and cause a CTD.

WEI is useless:( its not going to tell us much.

@OP are you positive your running the most current driver's for your card, and the directX is updated?

yes im runing latest driver 295 of nvidia and my directx is up to date
these games that i mentioned (mass effect 2and 3) crash for few seconds to 1 minute and comesback in front and game continues for few minutes and the process keep repeating
actually first time when i played Mass effect 2 it was runing ok for few minutes than it showed scattered pixels all over the screen, then i stopped playing untill i bought psu Corsair vx550
after that pixel problem never occured but above problem still persists

my previous PSU was gigabyte GE-N400A-C2

Only because you ask nicely tongue.gif anyway here go's.

First Thing is first. You need to run Prime95 on blend for a few hour's. The thread I linked will have everything you need/want to know about the details of prime. Its in your best intrest to get used to using it if your going to fiddle with PC's. Its an amazing tool for dealing with CPU's and stability/overclocking.

Also as other use's before I said. You need to run a GPU stress test aswell. I use Furmark. You want to make sure you set it to full screen mode(not windowed) and make sure that the resolution is the same as your monitor to ensure maximum stress on the GPU. Your going to want to watch this test for a while (i do it for 10-20 min or so) and look for any image distortion, screen tearing, flickering, artifacting, or anything other than crystal clear test.

There are other test's you can use, those are just my preference. There are other programs that do the same thing(some good one's have been mentioned in this thread).

I would run Furmark fist. If the GPU pass's the test then test the CPU. I'm betting the GPU is on its way out the door, my second guess is poorly configured software. Feel free to ask any questions about stress testing your hardware and good luck. Report back and let us all know how its going.

EDIT: do you only have 2 GB of RAM? if so, I'll bet thats the problem....
