New member, old questions?

Hey gang, so here I have a few questions as I am just venturing into computer construction.

I have heard that the lower the voltage on the CPU the better for OC'ing because it gives you more head-room.

I have heard that I don't need an eight-core (assuming I go AMD) and that a six-core will be plenty. On this note I plan on using an after market CPU fan (going all air, no water-cooling) and OC'ing my CPU quite a bit. I'm torn between the 3.1ghz bulldozer, and the 3.8ghz zambezi, but I don't know which would be better.

I was also told on the note of OC'ing to make sure that my mobo that I pick has the bios revision on it.

I just want to get the best CPU for gaming that I can (to date, looked through some 08-09 forum posts that didn't really seem to help much)biggrin.gif
My computer should be ordered within a week, and I would appreciate any feedback asap.
Here is my build (forgive the layout)

First thing first, I would change the 580 to a amd 7950 (450-500 US) Link
For the PSU 950W is total overkill, I would go with a CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750M 750W modular PSU (130 US) Link

Every thing else looks fine to me

I was looking at the 7970 actually, and I got that big of a power supply because I'm going to get another of whatever video card that I decide upon getting.
Would the 7970 still be a better choice over the 580 3gb, keep in mind I'm going to OC whatever one I decide upon getting, and want an easy enough gpu to OC

editing this because I just noticed the suggested was a 7950, not 7970, and about the processor, what should I go for the 8-core bulldozer, or getting the six-core 3.8 turbo and OC'ing it up as much as I can with an aftermarket cpu fan?

I'm sorry I forgot to add, why pick the 7950 over the 580, the 580's core clock is 772MHz, shader is 1544mhz it has 512 stream processors, and 4008mhz effective memory clock, where as the 7950 has 800mhz core, 1792 stream processing units, and only 1792 stream processing units.

With the money saved from going with the 7950, you should look into an H80 cpu cooler.

I might, quite possibly, be in here asking questions for the purpose of learning.
care in inform me ?

ive also almost completely decided to go with 2 7950's, however the one available only has 1 fan on the card, and its in the middle of the gpu, will that cheap fan be an issue that close to another card? what can i do

To be honest for gaming ditch amd. Buy a 2500k. If you are going to crossfire in the future definetly get the 2500k the 8120 will bottleneck 2 7950s.
Worse than crack.
