For a HTPC, the CPU is waaay overkill. An i3 would serve you better and cheaper, like the i3-2120

Also, no true need for a Z68 mobo, you could do fine with an H67, but that mobo seems good and cheap enough.

PSU is one of the things i'd replace. Cooler Master does not sell good PSU's, and for that system it is overkill (unless you plan to add a discrete graphics card on the road). A cheap but rock solidoption would be a Corsair CX430 v2

What he said +++

Cheaper ram and lesser Mobo. How many internal cards are you going to have? Ceton only uses 1 PCI-E x1 slot. What are you going to do with the 3 PCI-E x16 slots? You didn't list a GPU, so I'm assuming you're using the onboard HDMI. You can get 8gb ram for like $30, not $45 for the that ram. Lower latency is great for gaming, not really going to see any benefit in this scenario. I know it's only $10-$15 for ram, but that's money that could be spent on lower RPM fans, or fan filters to keep the inside clean. There are also cheaper mobos that will do what you need, and you could easily save $40 alone with that.

Hmm think u need to elaborate what u intend to do with this machine i.e heavy encoding, etc? I agree that prolly a cheaper IGP based set up is good to go and the pros @ AVS HTPC sub forums have tried and tested the A6-3500 APU as good to go with MadVR's highest setting and A55 mobos are dirt cheap too wink.gif

SRSLY....lesser CPU and mobo, cheaper ram will be something to look at.

+1 i would go 4GB RAM as well but i guess for IGP systems u may gain moving to say DDR3 1600 (diminishing returns any higher)?

As you're going to add standard HDD's for storage, any 64 GB SSD will work. I do recommend either a Crucial M4 or Samsung 830, but any SATA II sandforce-based SSD will do the trick (like the OCZ Agility 2)
